Indian embassy official found dead in US: The incident happened two days ago, local police and secret service are investigating

The body of an Indian Embassy official has been found in Washington DC, the capital of America. A report by news agency PTI said that the dead body of the officer was recovered from the premises of the Indian Embassy.

An Indian official died on the evening of September 18, the Indian embassy said on Friday. Agencies are in touch with family members. The body of the officer will be repatriated to India at the earliest.

Local police and the Secret Service are investigating the incident. Police are also probing the suicide angle. According to media reports, the police said it appears to be a case of suicide and is being investigated.

Officials said an initial investigation revealed the man had choked. The embassy has not released information related to the deceased official out of respect for the family's privacy.

The Indian embassy informed about the officer's death on Friday.
