India upset over allegations against Canadian minister Amit Shah: summons High Commission official; 3 days ago Canada said – Shah is attacking the Khalistanis

India has objected to Canada's statement that Home Minister Amit Shah is behind the action against Khalistanis in Canada. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Saturday that the Canadian High Commission official was summoned on November 1.

Meanwhile, it was said that the allegations against Amit Shah are baseless and absurd. Canadian officials are making deliberate allegations as part of a strategy to smear India. Then leaks it to the international media. This will have a serious impact on the relations between the two countries.

In fact, Canada's Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison claimed in a parliamentary panel on October 29 that Amit Shah had ordered the targeting of Sikh Khalistanis in Canada.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal answered questions from reporters on Saturday.

The Canadian government is monitoring Indian officials

  • Randhir Jaiswal said, 'Some of our consular officers were recently informed by the Canadian government that they are under audio and video surveillance. Their contact has also been disrupted.
  • 'We have also formally opposed it. We consider such actions a violation of diplomatic and commercial conventions. The Canadian government cannot justify this by citing technicalities. Our diplomats are already working in an environment of extremism and violence.

Jaiswal also spoke about the cancellation of Diwali celebrations On the cancellation of Diwali celebrations in Canada, the spokesperson said – We have heard some news related to this. It is very sad that the atmosphere there has reached this level.

Morrison admitted – gave the information to an American newspaper Morrison also admitted on October 29 that he was the one who gave the name of Amit Shah to the American newspaper Washington Post and gave information related to India-Canada meeting.

However, Morrison could not explain how he knew that Amit Shah had ordered the targeting of the Khalistanis. This is the first time that a Canadian official has openly named an Indian government minister.

Earlier on October 16, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had told a commission that in September 2023 last year, he had only intelligence when he alleged the involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. There was no concrete evidence.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated on 18 June 2023. In September, Canada's PM blamed India for the murder.

Indian agents had gathered a lot of information, Canadian police said Canadian Police Commissioner Mike Duhame also held a press conference on October 14. He said in it that Indian diplomats and officials in Canada have abused their positions and secretly collected information for the Indian government. Indian officials used agents for this.

Some of these agents were threatened and coerced into working with the Indian government, the official said. He said that information collected by India is being used to target South Asians.
