In Bangladesh, miscreants break idol made for Durga Puja: arms of statue broken; An attempt was also made to set it on fire, the army-police reached the spot

An incident of breaking the idol being made for Durga Puja has come to light in Bangladesh. On the night of August 31, some miscreants carried out the incident at a temple in Bangladesh's Sherpur district, adjacent to the Meghalaya border. Miscreants broke the lock of the Barwari temple in Sherpur late on Saturday night and entered inside. Sagar Ravidas, general secretary of the temple committee, said that some miscreants entered the temple by breaking the lock and chain. After this they broke the idol of Mother Goddess made of clay. After this, an attempt was made to burn the effigy by sprinkling petrol on it. On getting information about the incident, local police and army personnel reached the spot. However, for some reason the statue could not catch fire. After this the miscreants fled from the spot. Station in-charge of the local police station, Qayyum Khan Siddiqui, said that after investigating the matter, action will be taken against the miscreants. However, no accused has been arrested in this incident yet. There is fear among Hindus after the formation of new government in Bangladesh. However, the government has assured about the security of Hindus. Recently, a murder case was registered against Rana Dasgupta, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council. Against which thousands of people demonstrated. Minority teachers resign According to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, teachers from minority communities are being forced to resign since the formation of the new government in the country. So far 49 teachers from the minority community have resigned. Out of which only 19 have been rehabilitated. Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Ekta Parishad and Bangladesh Puja Udayapan Parishad wrote an open letter to the Chief Adviser to the Interim Government on August 9. The letter asked the government to provide protection to minorities. Since the fall of the Hasina government, 205 incidents of attacks on Hindus have been reported in 52 districts. The incidents were also mentioned in an open letter by the council.
