About 25 thousand Indians will be issued visas in this category this year. H means that professionals will be given the opportunity to work in the heartland state. States like Michigan, Dakota, which are economically backward compared to states like New York, Texas and Florida are called heartland states. The Biden administration believes that issuing visas to Indian professionals in the heartland state will boost economic development here. This category is specially designed keeping Indians in mind. Skilled professionals can come from H category due to long waiting list for green card in America. Indians who want to work or live in America go to big cities like California and New York. This scheme is designed to bring forward the heartland states.
