Tension between India and Canada continues to rise. Amid deteriorating relations, a Canadian Border Services Agency official has been named in a list of fugitive terrorists in Delhi. India wants terrorists included in this list to be deported from Canada. India has submitted the list to the Trudeau administration.
Sandeep Singh Sidhu, a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and serving in the CBSA, has reportedly been listed for his alleged involvement in promoting terrorist activities in Punjab.
Siddhu is in touch with ISI
Sidhu was allegedly in touch with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode and other ISI operatives to carry out the killing of Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 2020. Sandhu Khalistani was known for his fight against terrorists. He became a symbol of resistance in the separatist movement.
Sidhu was the Superintendent of CBSA
Sandhu was also awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his bravery. He was also known for opposing the Khalistan referendum in the US and Canada through Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). According to a report, Sandeep Singh Sidhu was allegedly promoted to the post of Superintendent in the CBSA.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said Khalistani Gurga of Canada was the mastermind behind the murders of Sunny Toronto and Pakistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Rode Sandhu. However, it is not yet known whether Sunny Toronto is another name of Sandeep Singh Sidhu or what?
Tension in India-Canada relations after Nijjar's killing
After the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, there has been a long-standing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada. Due to this India recalled its diplomats from Canada and also expelled Canadian diplomats. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have alleged that Indian government agents are involved in criminal activities against Canadian citizens on Canadian soil. India has not cooperated with Canada in the investigation in this matter. However, India contested the allegations and termed them as baseless.
