EDITOR'S VIEW: Will Israel be Bangladeshi?: Millions protest after hostage killing, PM Netanyahu apologizes to public, challenge to retain power in face of Hamas threat

You are The Head, You are to blame…You are the head, you are to blame…7 lakh citizens who came down on the roads of Israel are raising these slogans. These people have only one demand, that the innocent Israeli hostages held by the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza should be released…Millions of people have taken to the streets in provinces like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa. This is Israel's largest demonstration since the war between Israel and Hamas began. The people of Israel are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. If the matter is not resolved, a Bangladesh-like situation may arise in Israel as well. Hello, the people of Israel were angry like boiling soup, but when the bodies of 6 Israeli hostages were found in a tunnel on the Gaza border and this news spread, people have taken to the streets and are strongly protesting against the Netanyahu government. What happened to Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh is happening in Israel. There is a huge opposition to Prime Minister Netanyahu. Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Galant is also against Netanyahu's policy. Now the challenge has arisen for Netanyahu to save his seat. Why did 5 lakh people take to the streets in Israel? On 7 October 2023, Hamas, a terrorist group from Gaza, attacked southern Israel and caught Israel sleeping. They entered Israel and brutally killed people. Israel, considered a world power in defense, had its nose cut off. He continued to attack Gaza. Since then there has been a war between Israel and Gaza. During this war, Gaza's terror group Hamas took 251 Israeli citizens hostage. Last year there was a four-day ceasefire on November 22, 2023. Meanwhile, Hamas released 24 hostages. Among them, 13 were Israelis, 10 from Thailand and 1 from the Philippines. Against this, Israel also released 39 Palestinian citizens. With this agreement, the ceasefire was extended for another week. In which Hamas released 110 Israeli hostages and Israel released 240 Palestinians. Even after this, Hamas held 103 hostages. Six of the hostages were taken by Hamas terrorists to a tunnel on the Israeli border. Six were placed close together in a line and shot in the head. Israeli soldiers patrolling nearby reached the tunnel and found the dead bodies of 6 innocent civilians. 97 Israeli hostages are still being held by Hamas. 6 innocent Israeli hostages were killed, leading to public outcry against the Israeli government and people taking to the streets. Hamas and Israel give different reasons for killing the hostages to which 6 hostages were killed, Hamas said, we did not kill them. Israel has died in the attacks it has carried out. So Israel said that we have done the forensic and postmortem report. It was found that all these have been shot at close range. Israel's media has been talking slyly against Hamas. In June-2024, a 24-year-old girl named Nova arrived in Israel after being freed from the occupation of Hamas. The media fell behind it. Nova's body had injury marks. He then told the media that Hamas did not harm me. The injury I sustained was in an Israeli attack. Since then, Nova has become an icon for Israel. The hostages have been identified as Carmel Gate, Aden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Paulin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and Master Sergeant Ori Danino. An American citizen was also involved in this. Four times in the UNSC, Israel did not agree to a cease-fire. In the United National Security Council, there were four proposals for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. When the proposal was brought up for the fourth time in March-2024, 14 out of 15 countries were in favor of a cease-fire, but the United States did not vote. However, even though 14 out of 15 countries were in favor of a ceasefire, Israel refused and continued its attacks on Hamas. America also continued to help Israel by sending weapons. Hamas agreed to Qatar and Egypt but not Israel… On May 7, 2024, neighboring countries such as Qatar and Egypt proposed a ceasefire to Hamas and Israel. At that time, Hamas agreed to Qatar and Egypt and showed readiness to end the war, but Israel did not agree. Israel's defense minister is also opposing Netanyahu's policy as Israel has been torn apart by war. People are also angry and the country's defense minister is in the twelfth month against Prime Minister Netanyahu. Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Galant has always been opposed to Netanyahu's policies. He is against the continued attacks on Gaza, but Netanyahu won't even listen to his defense minister. The two have been at loggerheads since the war began. At one point, he warned Prime Minister Netanyahu that he will never allow Israel to rule over the land of Palestine. According to the Times of Israel, this is the first time since the war against Hamas began that a minister from Netanyahu's own government has openly challenged him. Following Gallant's statement, other Israeli ministers are outraged and are demanding the defense minister's dismissal. But Netanyahu has not yet taken any action against Gallant. Hamas political chief assassinated in Tehran, two cease-fire meetings held On July 31, 2024, Iran's new president, Massoud Pezhskyan, was to be sworn in in Tehran. Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh was also invited to this swearing-in ceremony. Haniyeh was killed in a missile attack where he landed in Tehran. Iran alleged that this attack was carried out by Israel. Israel didn't mention the mug's name then. The second month of this incident, in August-2024, US Secretary of State Anthony Blicken arrived in the Middle East. A meeting was held in Doha but Hamas refused to participate in that meeting. Hamas said that there is no point in participating in the meeting if Israel does not want a ceasefire. The meeting took place in early August. Then another meeting for a ceasefire was held on August 25, 2024 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. There was no conclusion either. Why is there no ceasefire even after so many attempts for a ceasefire? There are two reasons for this- 1. Hamas wants the war to stop permanently. 2. Israel wants the war to continue. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has already been constantly saying that the war will continue until we erase the name of Hamas from the map of Gaza. More than 40,000 people have died in the attacks that Israel has so far carried out in Gaza. People's anger may have an impact on Israel's economy. In areas including Tel Aviv, millions of people have taken to the streets and announced a strike. These millions include college students, Israel's strong trade unions, business persons, traders. Also the laborers have announced to stay away from work. The trade union, which represents 8 lakh workers in sectors such as health, transport and banking, said the strike would begin indefinitely. If workers in key sectors go on strike, Israel's economy could be hit hard. Britain thumbs Israel's nose Britain has made a big announcement amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Britain has imposed a partial embargo on some arms exports to Israel. Britain fears that the use of these weapons could lead to serious violations of international human rights law. Britain's Foreign Minister David Lammy has made a statement in the House of Commons that 30 out of 350 arms export licenses will be banned. However, it has been clarified that the sale of arms will not be completely banned. Britain's ruling Labor Party government was under pressure for a tougher stance against Israel amid the war in Gaza. The Labor Party is in power in the elections held in July this year and has taken this decision after coming to power. Finally, Iran's President Ibrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. It was said then that this was a conspiracy, but it was investigated. The Supreme Board of the General Staff of the Army of Iran has prepared a report and the report has arrived. According to the report, the helicopter crashed due to bad weather. This was no conspiracy. Tune in from Monday to Friday at 8 pm Editor's View… (Research: Yashpal Bakshi)
