The girl had removed her clothes in the middle of the road protesting her.
Iran has strict rules regarding women's clothing. There is severe punishment for not wearing hijab here. A shocking video from such a staunchly conservative country has been shared on social media. In this, a girl is seen stripping off her clothes and walking around in public in only her underwear.
Women have been protesting the hijab for a long time
Women in Iran have long opposed the hijab. Recently, a young woman took off her clothes in the middle of the road protesting her. According to online videos and media reports, a young woman removed her clothes at an Iranian university on Saturday in protest against the country's strict Islamic dress code.
The university said – the woman was under severe mental pressure
In a video posted on social media, security personnel of a branch of Islamic Azad University are seen detaining an unidentified girl. University spokesperson Amir Mahjob said on social media platform X, 'It was found that the girl was suffering from severe mental stress and was also suffering from psychosis.'
Undressed in protest
However, some social media users claimed that the woman deliberately removed her clothes to protest. A user on X wrote alongside the video, 'Undressing in public is the worst thing for most women. This is a reaction to the authorities' foolish insistence on compulsory hijab.
No information was found about the woman. “An informed source said the woman responsible for the act has serious mental problems and may be transferred to a mental hospital after an investigation,” Iranian newspaper Hamshahri wrote on its website.
Demonstrations began in 2022
In Iran, the number of women challenging the authorities by abandoning the hijab is increasing. Nationwide protests were sparked in September 2022 after the death of an Iranian Kurdish woman in the custody of the morality police for allegedly violating hijab rules. The Iranian regime and security forces attempted to violently crush the uprising, resulting in many deaths.
