The Caribbean country of Dominica has announced to confer its highest national award 'Dominica Award of Honour' on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The award is being given to the Prime Minister of India for helping Dominica during the Kovid-19 pandemic.
India sent 70 thousand doses of ExtraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica in February 2021. The vaccine was useful for Dominica and its neighboring Caribbean countries. The award is being given in recognition of the Indian Prime Minister's contribution to Dominica's health infrastructure.
Dominica President Sylvain Burton will present the award to Prime Minister Modi during the India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana. Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21.
On July 9 this year, Russia awarded PM Modi with the country's highest honor 'Order of St. Andrew the Apostle'. He became the first person from India and the fourth non-Russian person to receive this honour. So far 13 countries have honored PM Modi with the highest honour.
Russia and Bhutan have also given honor
President Putin is conferring the highest civilian honor on PM Modi who visited Russia in July this year.
In March 2024, King Jigme Wangchuck of Bhutan honored Prime Minister Modi with the highest 'Order of Druk Gyalpo' award.
