Claim- India using ammunition against Russia Ukraine: Delivered via Italy, Russia complains to India twice

Ukraine is using Indian ammunition in its war against Russia. According to news agency Reuters, India sold these weapons to European countries, but now Ukraine is using them.

The report claims that despite Russian protests, India has not tried to stop it. 3 Indian officials have been quoted as saying that Russia has complained about this to India twice.

Indian ammunition is reaching Ukraine via Italy and Czech Republic. Both these countries buy large quantities of shale from India. In the last one year, these two countries have sent Indian ammunition to Ukraine.

Russia complained to India

According to the report, there was a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in July. In which this issue was raised.

The news agency said that the Defense Ministry of Russia and India did not respond to related queries. However, in January, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a press conference that India has neither sent nor sold artillery shells to Ukraine.

Two Indian government sources and two Defense Ministry sources told Reuters that the ammunition being used by Ukraine was produced in very small quantities by India.

This is not even 1% of the ammunition Kiev has purchased since the war began, one official estimated.

According to the claim, the conversation between External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Sergey Lavrov took place during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Russia.

Government company Yantra India manufactured the ammunition

It is not yet known whether European countries have given or sold Indian ammunition to Ukraine as free aid. It is being said that these weapons are manufactured by a government company called Bharat. The headquarters of this company is in Nagpur. This company was created in October 2021.

India has set rules regarding export of arms. According to him, only the country which buys weapons from India can use them. If the arms are sent to another country, the company can stop the delivery of the arms.

Expert said – sending weapons is beneficial for India

Walter Ledwig, a South Asia security expert at King's College London, said that sending a small amount of Indian ammunition to Ukraine would be beneficial for India. This will give India an opportunity to show the West that it is not on Russia's side in the Russia-Ukraine war and that Russia has no influence on India's decisions.
