'Bangladesh to ensure security of Hindus': India condemns attack on Hindus in Chittagong, says- take action against extremists

India has condemned the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh's Chittagong. It has also asked Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindus and take action against extremists.

In this regard, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made a statement during a press conference on Thursday. Jaiswal attributed the tension in Chittagong to an inflammatory social media post.

In fact, the ISKCON temple in Chittagong and the controversial comment on Sanatan Dharma have angered Hindus. On Tuesday, thousands of Hindu community demonstrated in this regard. When Hindu organizations took to the streets in protest, the army lathi-charged the protesters.

On the other hand, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Police Kazi Tarek Aziz said that the person who shared the controversial post has been arrested. More than 250 cases of attacks on Hindus have been reported in Bangladesh since August.

Incident of Hazari Gali, 25,000 people live here According to Bangladeshi media reports, the incident took place on Tuesday evening. Hindu organizations protested in the morning, but again at 10 pm suddenly police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel raided the Hazari Gali area. It is alleged that local Hindus were brutally beaten during this period.

About 25,000 people live in the Hazari Gali area, 90% of whom belong to the Hindu community. Local people say, 'After the accident, all the locks of the shops are broken and people are worried about their safety. Gautam Dutta, who runs a pharmacy in the area, also said that despite his shop being closed, the army men beat him and his employees.

There are continuous attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh A few days ago, a case was also registered against ISKCON secretary Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari alias Chandan Kumar Dhar in Chittagong. He was accused of hoisting a saffron flag over the national flag on the Azadi Pillar in New Market, Chittagong. 'Sanatani' was written on this flag.

Since the fall of the government in Bangladesh, many cases of violence against the minority Hindu community have come to light.
