A bacterial infection (E. coli virus) has spread from McDonald's burgers in America. A man died after eating a McDonald's quarter pounder hamburger. 49 people are sick, of which 10 are hospitalized.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the E. coli virus that began in late September has so far spread to 10 western states, with the majority of cases reported in Colorado and Nebraska.
McDonald's has removed chopped onions and beef patties from its Quarter Pounder hamburger after a man became ill after eating the burger. An investigation is currently underway.
The company said – the restaurant where the complaint was received does not have burgers
McDonald's (America) President Joe Erlinger said in a video message that food safety is extremely important to us. A decision has been taken to temporarily remove quarter pounder hamburgers from restaurants in areas where burger complaints have been received. He said most of the states were not affected. The company admitted that in the restaurants where complaints were received, onions were being supplied from only one company.

E. coli is a type of bacteria that also helps keep your digestive system healthy. Some strains can cause diarrhea if you eat contaminated food or drink contaminated water.
The O157:H7 strain of E. coli can cause severe illness. Even 31 years ago i.e. in 1993 many people died due to virus. Then four children died after eating undercooked hamburgers at a Jack in the Box restaurant.
