Israel said the army had received information about a threat in the area, which led to the attack. UN personnel were warned before the attack. The entire matter will be investigated. US President Joe Biden said he urged Israel to stop attacking UN peacekeepers amid its fight against Hezbollah.

According to the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, Iran has threatened through diplomatic channels that it will face consequences if any country helps Israel attack it or allows it to use its airspace.
