The flight took a U-turn 20 minutes before landing in Kuwait.
60 Indian passengers were stranded for more than 24 hours at the Kuwait airport on Sunday. All these were going from Mumbai to Manchester, England. According to an NDTV report, these passengers have accused Gulf Air of keeping them without food and accommodation for a long time.
Indian passengers also accused Gulf Air of discrimination during the incident. Passengers said that during the incident, only passengers from the UK, European Union and the US were provided accommodation and food, while people from India, Pakistan and South-East Asian countries were not provided any assistance.
Indeed, on Sunday, a Gulf Air flight suffered engine failure, after which the flight was diverted and made an emergency landing at Kuwait Airport. It took more than 24 hours to fix the engine.
After receiving information about the incident, the officials of the Indian Embassy met the passengers.
No information provided to Indian passengers
Passengers shared their problems by posting on social media. The stranded passengers wrote that they could not leave the airport because they did not have a transit visa.
The Indian embassy said the hotels at the airport were not empty due to the ongoing GCC summit in Kuwait. Due to which the Indian passengers had to face difficulties.
Also, British and American passport holders had transit visas, so they were allowed to leave.
A transit visa is a short-term visa. This allows them to stay in the country for 2 to 3 days.
The flight returned to Manchester at around 4.30pm

Later, a senior official of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait provided food to the passengers. According to the embassy, the flight took off at around 4.30 am. Meanwhile, Indian officials were present there.
