36 passengers killed in two bus accidents in Pakistan: 30+ injured, 4 passengers still trapped, relief operation underway

36 people were killed in two separate bus accidents in Pakistan on Sunday (August 25). 36 people have also been injured in both the accidents. According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the bus going from Kahuta to Rawalpindi fell into a ditch due to brake failure. There were 26 passengers in this bus out of which 25 died and one other was injured. The accident took place on the Girari Bridge on the Kahuta Azad Pattan Road in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Another accident took place near Bujji Top on Makran Highway in Balochistan. Here a bus overturned due to over speeding. 11 passengers were killed and 35 injured in this accident. There were 60 passengers in the bus out of which 4 are still trapped. Police are trying to rescue the trapped passengers with a crane. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Iran A bus carrying pilgrims from Iran overturned due to over speeding in Balochistan. According to local police, the bus lost control of the driver and overturned due to over speeding near Bujji Top. People injured in the accident have been admitted to the hospital. 4 passengers are still trapped in the bus, efforts are being made to extricate them with the help of a crane. The passengers traveling in the bus are said to be from Lahore and Gujranwala. Ban on travel from Iran's Gabad to Gwadar After the tragedy, the Gwadar district administration has banned travel from Iran's Gabaddi to Gwadar for the safety of pilgrims. District Magistrate Hamudur Rahman said, Iran has banned the entry of pilgrims, so they should avoid any travel at this time. He said that this ban is being imposed to improve travel facilities for pilgrims. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has expressed grief over this incident. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief over this tragedy. According to Pakistan Radio, he prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed in the tragedy. Besides this, instructions were also given to provide immediate medical and other relief aid to the injured. President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief over the tragedy and asked to expedite relief activities. Pakistani pilgrims' bus overturns in Iran on Tuesday Earlier on Tuesday (August 20), a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims overturned in Iran, killing 28 passengers. The accident took place on Tuesday night. 23 passengers have also been injured in this accident. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Pakistan to Iraq. According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the accident took place in Iran's Yazd province. There were 51 passengers in the bus. All the passengers were going to Iraq to participate in the commemoration of Arbaeen. The ceremony is celebrated every year on the 40th anniversary of the death of the seventh-century Shia saint.
