Update: Fact Checking: How to distinguish between truth and falsehood?

Keval Umratiya Tat In this world that is becoming digital, a waterfall of information is pouring out from all around. Tons of text, photos and videos are being uploaded to the internet every minute. Everyone has something to say. They feel as if they have done a service or a good deed by passing on the information that reaches them. No one bothers to think whether that information is true, false, incomplete or misleading. Due to which the spread of fake news and incorrect and incomplete information is increasing day by day. It is now difficult to tell what is right and what is wrong in all places like 'Whatsapp', 'YouTube', 'Facebook', 'Instagram' or 'X' (Twitter). Also some people do such things intentionally. I of every political party. T. This is daily work for the cell. People who make money from social media also do it for views and clicks. In short, people fall into their trap. Poor common people don't even know that by forwarding fake news, they have unknowingly become part of a conspiracy. Seeing all this, fact checking has become a very important and mandatory skill now. To survive in the digital world, it is necessary to have an understanding of fact checking. Fact checking means checking whether the information reaching us is true or false. Which is very easy. Some of the ways are given here. 1. Text i.e. text First of all check whether there is any source with the text that came. Source ie where is this information taken from? Any website, book or author's name? If not written then 50 percent credibility will be reduced. Now check yourself whether the information is correct or incorrect. If the text is about a news or event, open 'Google' and do a keyword search related to it. D. Kh. You get a message that says 'Russia has launched a nuclear attack on Ukraine.' So open 'Google' and search 'russia ukraine war'. Then go to the news section and you will get all the latest news. If this news appears in it then true or false. The same applies to almost any text. Nowadays it is fashionable to break history and present it. You can also search on 'Google' in this way for anything related to history. So you will get a lot of results, in which the name of the author and the books will be mentioned. Based on which you can decide what is right and what is wrong. Apart from this, for some time now we have seen that there are many sensational news about rain, weather, storm etc. Do not trust them at all. Instead trust the news on the Website or app of the major media house. 2. Photo AI time is running now. Any photo can be easily manipulated. Alas, even seemingly genuine fake photos turn out to be in a pinch. Then reverse image search is used for photo fact checking. Reverse Image Search means searching the internet for the photo you have. So that we get all the information about who the photo is, where it is from and what it is. Open 'Google' for Reverse Image Search. Where you will get the option of Image Search. Click on it and three options will appear in the 'Search Bar', Microphone, Lens and Search. Click on the camera-like lens icon in the middle, then the photo upload option will appear. Now select the photo you want to fact check and click on search. After that, as soon as the photo is uploaded, all the articles associated with it will appear. So you will know what that photo is, where it is from, when and whether it is true or false. 3. Fact checking of video like video photo and text is also necessary. D. T. You may have come across a video with the claim that 'terrible earthquake occurred in Delhi.' When the fact is that the video is five years old. In such a situation, if the video is about any current event or news, then search its keyword on 'Google' and you will get the information. Apart from this, if there is any logo in the video, go to its official handle and check it. If nothing is found, take a screenshot of any part of the video and do a reverse image search on that photo on Google. Doing so will also reveal information related to that video. Nowadays, in the age of internet and social media, it is rare that you do not get any photo or video information. Everything, whether true or false, spreads like a forest fire, so if you search with a little brain, you will know. Also, even if you look carefully at the edited photos and videos, you will find something strange. Keep all these things in mind. Explain to the elders that everything that comes in 'WhatsApp' is not true! Especially explain this process to the elders and children of the household. The number of elders who have access to smartphones, internet and social media is very recent. They believe that whatever comes on 'WhatsApp', 'Facebook' or 'YouTube' is eternal truth. So they work hard to spread wrong information. If there are such elders in the house, explain to them that everything that comes on the internet and social media is not true.} Youtube English videos have to be watched in a pose with subtitles, any solution? I assume you mean informative videos, which you have to use subtitles to understand. Which is fast. There are two ways for it. The first way is to reduce the playback speed of Youtube videos. So the subtitles will also come slowly. However, doing so will not make it fun to watch and listen to the video. Another way is if you transcribe the video i.e. convert it to text. For that go to the website named https://kome.ai/. Select YouTube Transcript Generator from the list of tools at the very bottom footer. So this page https://kome.ai/tools/youtube-transcript-generator will open. Put the link of that YouTube video in it and click on generate, then the script of that video will be written. Which you can also copy. This question has been sent by reader Bhargav Patel, Vadodara. You can ask your questions related to technology, social media at kevalumretiyaa@gmail.com.
