After this surgery, there are small red spots in the eyes. Is this a symptom of a bigger problem? A Girl (Vadodara) Answer : In today's fast paced lifestyle, LASIK surgery for number reduction has become acceptable. People resort to LASIK surgery as per the doctor's advice. This is a laser procedure, which takes a few minutes and improves eyesight. LASIK surgery reshapes the cornea of the eye, so that the light falling on the eyes can be properly focused and vision defects can be corrected. However, dry eyes, mild pain or small red spots on the whites of the eyes can occur after LASIK surgery. During LASIK surgery, small red spots may appear due to pressure on the tiny blood vessels in the eyes. Which usually resolves within 2 days to a week of surgery. It goes away by itself. It will not have any negative effect on your vision and will go away completely over time. Contact a doctor if the eyes become itchy, irritated or painful. Neglecting this can sometimes be heavy. Question: I am a 28-year-old woman and I gave birth to a baby girl ten days ago. I want to breastfeed my daughter as much as possible but my body is not producing enough milk. What is my solution to this problem? A woman (Surat) Answer : Low milk production in breasts can be a big challenge for a new mother. However, some scientifically supported techniques can help increase milk production. Breastfeeding several times a day has a positive effect on milk production. Ideally breast feeding should be done 8-12 times a day. Use both breasts while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding in this way will increase the production of milk in both breasts and as a result, better breastfeeding can be achieved. When direct feeding is not possible, milk production can be increased with the help of a breast pump. A balanced diet is very important for adequate milk production. A breastfeeding woman should consume an additional 500 calories and 25 grams of protein per day. Apart from this, drinking plenty of water is very important because lack of water in the body also reduces milk production in the breasts. At least 2 to 3 liters of fluid should be taken daily. Some herbal supplements, such as fenugreek seeds and asparagus, may help with milk production, although the scientific evidence for this is mixed. A breastfeeding woman should consult her doctor before starting any supplement to know its safety. Doing this under medical supervision is safe for health. Sleep also affects milk production so get as much rest as possible. Skin-to-skin contact is beneficial for both mother and baby as it stimulates milk production and also creates a special bond between mother and baby. Holding the baby close while breastfeeding causes the release of oxytocin and this hormone helps in milk production.
