Took admission in Shah Medical College. During the medical years, there was no more idea about the civil services exam. While preparing for his post graduation, he came in contact with a friend during that period. He P. S. C. Gave idea about civil services exam. So Chintanbhai turned his career ship in the direction of civil service. Even after starting the preparation, there was an unexpected disaster in life. Father died suddenly. In these difficult times he did not give up and continued to prepare. Dr. Chintan is a man of clarity. Not to read for more than six-seven hours, but to read those six hours thoroughly. No phone, no message during that time. The marriage was done. Everyone in the house knew that Chintan would not pick up the phone while reading. If it's Diwali, read for six hours and if it's Uttarayan, climb the roof after reading. This routine is very useful. Took admission in SPIPA and continued preparation. Medical Science is a favorite subject. It was a natural choice as a major optional subject. That subject was strong. As per the method of that time, Gujarati literature was chosen as the second subject. In prelims too, reading was done in a well-planned manner. It is not necessary to read everything. Do not give special emphasis on those subjects which have fewer questions. Some topics were also let go, but what I read was a strong read. Preliminaries require eliminating the wrong option rather than selecting the correct option. It is important to understand what not to read rather than what to read. 'Plan 'B' is necessary,'' says the candidates who want to succeed in C. Many candidates have been seen going home after failing. Dedication and passion are necessary, but not so irrational that all other avenues of life are blocked. Each candidate should plan according to his/her status and skills. Civil services exam is the pinnacle of uncertainty. Here the possibility of boat sinking in the middle of the day is high. Getting lost in directions and realizing after the storm subsides that we have come a long way from where we wanted to go. A backup plan can only help in times like this.' Dr. Chintan Patel worked in various roles at Ahmedabad, Kalol, Gandhinagar and Mundra in Gujarat and is currently working as Joint Commissioner Central GST in North Commissionerate, Bangalore. Dr. Chintan Patel's goal-setting journey is a triple harmony of clarity of thought and decisiveness as well as planning. Which will continue to inspire the Civil Services Exam candidates.
