Parenting: How to break a child's thumb-sucking habit?

Newborn babies and young children have a habit of thumb sucking. This is a common thing. But some children can't give up this habit, so parents have to try a lot to get rid of this habit. There are many reasons for thumb sucking in children. These reasons are as follows. In many cases, newborn babies are seen sucking their thumbs even in the womb. Thumb sucking is also a way for babies to find comfort and peace. This happens only when the child is bored or upset about something. Many babies fall asleep at night sucking their thumb. Thus, thumb sucking becomes their habit. Also, when little babies start teething, sucking their thumb gives them a lot of relief from the pain. As soon as the thumb puts pressure on the gum, the pain starts to subside. Side effects of thumb-sucking in babies This habit of thumb-sucking in newborns does not harm them, but continuing this habit with increasing age is harmful. If the child continues this habit even after 5 years, it can lead to dental problems. This child may suffer from crooked teeth, malocclusion and jaw shape changes which need to be treated. Prolonged thumb sucking causes the mouth muscles to not develop properly. This causes difficulty in speaking certain words. Constant thumb sucking increases the risk of tearing and infection of the skin of the toe. Due to the pressure, the shape of the toes also deteriorates. As children grow up, this habit becomes a social concern for them. This also leads to mental retardation in children. How to get rid?
