The trend setter of the Indian film industry entered its thirtieth year on October 20. The name of the film is 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge…' DDLJ… An entire generation grew up dreaming colorful dreams with Simran (Kajol) and Raj (Shah Rukh Khan). Many true movie goers must have watched this movie at least twice. All the songs are super hits. Even today, his dialogues change the colors of those who fall in love. The magic of the film has not faded even today. Yet another generation considers itself Simran and Raj. Suppose… at the end of the film, M Baldev (Amrish Puri) leaves Simran's hand and says 'Ja, ji le apni zindagi' – and if Simran sat on a train with Raj and got married in London and lived with her family? So… today their children would have got married! How would both Simran and Raj have lived after getting married? Baldev (Amrish Puri) would be staying at Simran's house now! And used to party every evening! His son-in-law used to praise Raj in front of his friends! In-laws do not have to teach the habit of doing their work by praising the son-in-law! Poor Raj can't even say 'Simran, stop dramatizing everything!' Because in the scene of Karva Choth, he acted for the sake of Raj! Raj didn't know that he would get sick if he ate a single piece of food! Raj would be spending six months setting up Sadhubhai (Chutchki's marriage must have been done too!) and six months setting up Garbana's pass! (Garba season in foreign countries comes six months earlier and continues for six months after Garba!) Now every Fri, Sat, Sun spend money and go to play Garba? Setting (of the pass) is essential! In DDLJ the family environment is Punjabi. But Gujaratis are a strong people who can make everyone play garba. 'Agar wo tuzse pyaar karti hai to palat ke dekhegi' – says Manoman Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) in one scene. Then Manoman says 'palat, palat'. And Simran (Kajol) looks back at Raj (Shah Rukh Khan). Now it is natural for the scenario to change due to a frozen marriage after thirty years. Simran goes to bath in the bathroom during office hours and Raj knocks on the bathroom door every day waiting for Simran to come out soon! Overturning 'results' in wrapping. From London to Simran, Raj came to Punjab from an Agashi crossing the stairs to Simran's Agashi. Today, in thirty years, it would seem as if the CD has crossed the sea! Both of them fell in love after traveling to Europe. Have they sent their children to Europe? There will not be a wedding photo album, so Simran and Raj will have grown up listening to the stories of the wedding separately! Also, his little Baldev would be talking about something different! The boys would be dying to get 'satrattva' after listening to everyone! In order to get love, the entire family has to be trusted – this was a rare case in the movies! Also, when the father-in-law is like Amrish Puri, the opposite son-in-law's role is to 'be the son-in-law himself' – very difficult to do without appearing like that! All the 'birds' will be gathering in the house every day! All the anger of Raj will be coming out on his brother, that is, Chutki's husband! When the matter gets worse, the hot pot can be pinched in the hands and fingers! After all, in the opening scene of DDLJ's 'Simran' entry 'Mere Khwaboon Mein Jo Aye' – when Kajol's personal diary falls into the hands of her mother Lajwanti (Farida Jalal) and reads it, who would remember that scene thirty years later? Raj might be looking for Simran's diary. And Simran would be looking for 'Raj' in the pages of that diary! When the marriage is 'uploaded', everything changes automatically when the love is downloaded to the 'device'. Love doesn't believe in choice and marriage compares good to good 'choice' though! Movies work because they imagine a colorful reality. Even a boy who has come out of the trap at the age of twenty considers himself 'Raj'. It's been thirty years of DDLJ, so let's take a peek into the life of both the latter. Simar must have booked the date of knee replacement and Raj the date of cataract operation in advance! The characters of the film, which were houseful for months in advance, are amazing today! What's the fun in peeking into something that's not going to happen?
