M is eternal. Lovers leave the world. Time flows, but love and the sweet memories associated with it achieve immortality. Like Heer-Ranza, Laila-Majnu and Shireen-Farhad, the two greatest lovers of the literary world are Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam. Some of the new generation may not have heard the names of top class film lyricists Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam, but young literature lovers do not know Sahir-Amrita. Born on 8 March 1921 in Ludhiana, Sahir Ludhianvi's real name was Abdul Hai. His vassal father was Chaudhry Fazal Muhammad Krodhi and Iyash. Fazl had a total of 12 Begums. One of them Sardar Begum is Sahir's mother. Sahir's inclination towards poetry grew during his school days. At an early age, he memorized hundreds of poems, ghazals and Guruvanis in Urdu and Persian. He often recited his compositions to his classmates. Sahir himself started writing poetry at the age of fifteen-sixteen. Ustad Faiyaz Haryanvi is the guru of creator Sahir Ludhianvi who composed funky ghazals, nazms and songs. This master sculpted the Shire in Sahir. His mother tongue was Punjabi. The young Sahir started painting in the colors of Punjabi and Urdu literature. Meanwhile, in 1945, Sahir Ludhianvi's first poetry collection 'Talkhiyan' was published from Lahore. This first collection of poetry brought him great fame and prominence in the world of Punjabi and Urdu literature. Sahir was of normal appearance with a freckled face. Amrita Pritam was the most famous poet-writer of her time. She was beautiful and talented and married. One evening in 1944, Sahir and Amrita met each other in a Mushaira. Coming from a conservative family, Amrita was married to Pritam Singh at the age of 16. Amrita was not happy with her married life. Sahir liked to meet like this. During the freedom struggle, where everyone wrote poems on bravery, Sahir wrote poems on love and it was here that he fell in love with Amrita. Amrita Pritam fell in love with Sahir's talent, not his face. In an interview, Sahir remembered Amrita, writing: 'Burnt cigarette butts, cups of tea and memories of Amrita.' Sahir was a chain smoker and Amrita loved tea. At that time Amrita went to Sahir's house. This was a big deal for a woman living in her forties. Sahir loved Amrita's openness. Bound by social bonds, both could express their love only in letters, and those letters became poetry. Amrita addressed Sahir as 'Mere Shire', 'Mere Mehboob', 'Mere Khuda' in her love letters. Sahir once told his mother about Amrita to his girlfriend who came to his house, 'She was Amrita Pritam. She could have been your daughter-in-law.' It was then that Sahir's mother saw Amrita for the first time. They loved each other very much. There was always an unspeakable love between these two. Amrita Pritam wrote in her autobiography 'Revenue Stamp (Receipt Ticket)' how the two spent hours seeing each other. Many a times Amrita Sahir's burnt cigarette butt would pick up from the ground and take a puff just to feel the beloved character's existence from the depths of her heart. For this reason, Amrita got into the habit of smoking cigarettes. Why is love unfulfilled? At that time there were many problems in Sahir and Amrita's love. Both of them lived in Lahore and at the time of partition both had to come from Lahore to Mumbai in India. Then Amrita and her husband shifted to Delhi. Sahir had never promised marriage to Amrita, but now their love affair was also to come to an end. Their love did not lead to marriage. However, Sahir was not committed to marrying Amrita. He remained unmarried throughout his life. Many poems and songs were written because of Amrita and Sahir's love. Both wrote a lot for each other. Which was also taken in the films of that time. Several film songs were written on Sahir's poems. On October 25, 1980, the word magician Sahir Ludhianvi disappeared from this world forever. Behind Shabdahe left the unfinished story of their eternal love. }
Four women entered Sahir's life Amrita Pritam, Sudha Malhotra, Mahendra Kaur and Ishwar Kaur. The cases of Sahir Ludhianvi's love affairs with these four women used to be discussed in the film world. His love affairs with all these did not reach the stage of marriage. Romance and revolution were favorite subjects of poetry in Sahir's youth. Shair Sahir Ludhianvi and Faiz Ahmed Faiz were the most successful in introducing Urdu ghazals and nazms with new colors and expressions.
