Mood and Mind: Understanding children's psychology is essential to understand…

Dr. Spandan Thacker

She was eight years old. As he grew older, his problem increased. Getting angry, stubborn, throwing things, sometimes saying words that seem very inappropriate for his age. Parents once thought that a small child would get better as it grew older. But now this problem was increasing instead of decreasing. These kinds of problems are gradually seen in everyone's home. Young children seem much older than their age. Partly our upbringing and partly the digital age both play an important role in it. We know that children learn what they see, but what children see and how to train them is in our hands. It is not right or easy to get angry or punish children these days. It is very important for parents to know these three things to talk to their children which if added to their upbringing can prevent many child related issues. First of all, adults should never raise their voice when talking to a child. If you want to explain a point to a child, the voice has to be very controlled. Children today pay more attention to how a point is presented than to understand the point behind it. So if a topic is told in soft language, the child will understand well. Second, when the parents give the child all the things they want together, instead of doing each thing or favorite activity, some boundaries have to be set, which is called house rules and regulations. This boundary should never be broken. Like breakfast time, bedroom timetable at night, style of communication with elders, habit of finishing homework before play time… all these have to be set. It should be discussed very seriously with the child that before doing an activity he likes, he will have to do another activity and keep him in a certain discipline. The third and most important thing is to treat the child empathetically. When the child is stubborn, instead of directly telling the child what is right or wrong, one should try to understand the child's psychology. It is the responsibility of parents to teach them how to cope better than tackling any issue with anger or stubbornness. A child's behavior can be molded very well with these things. Mood mantra: Instead of suppressing the behavior that the child does at home, finding the reason behind it and eliminating it can be of great benefit in the mental development of the child.
