Mindfulness: The Psychological Essence of the Bhagavad Gita

As it is the season of Krishna birth, we are talking about Sri Krishna oriented Bhagavad Gita, because it is believed that Gita is an excellent book of psychology. Therefore, if we understand how we can adopt Gita Gyan in routine life, which is the greatest gift of Indian psychology for mental health, it will be very beneficial in terms of mental health. Practical and spiritual knowledge of what is to be understood from the Gita is more important than getting caught up in the vidandaism of when the Gita was composed and who wrote it. The Gita narrated by Sri Krishna is located in the middle chapter of the epic Mahabharata, the sixth i.e. Bhishma Parva. There are a total of seven hundred verses of the Bhagavad Gita, described in a total of eighteen chapters from chapters twenty-five to forty-two of the Mahabharata. In this verse the confusion of the human mind and its practical counseling are described in a wonderful way. Suffering from stress and ambivalence, Arjuna symbolizes the struggle of our minds. Arjuna felt anxious seeing his relatives standing before the battle. The throats became relaxed. The mouth began to dry. The body trembled and the fur stood on end. The mighty Arjuna fell into great doubt. Even though times have changed now, stress and depression still affect a person just like Arjuna. Running away from life's problems does not cure the condition. Just as an ostrich buries its head in the sand to escape a sandstorm, the storm does not go away, so running away only adds to one's problems. Arjuna's depression is a daily reality peeking out even today. The list of things that a person suffering from guilt and despair has to understand is very long in the Gita, but being engaged in one's work and doing the 'assigned job' faithfully is the first step on the complex ladder of the truth of peace of mind, which is elaborated in the first six chapters. In the Bhakti Yoga of the second six chapters, it is also useful to develop psychological understanding. Anxiety and insecurity increase when a normal person feels that I am responsible for everything that happens around me. Too much attachment to oneself and everyone related to oneself can lead to insecurity, anxiety, depression, but psychologically this burden can be relieved if one is 'consciously' dependent on a higher authority or 'God concept'. is This is the psychological application of spirituality. The key here is to release tension. The most striking psychological statement of the Bhagavad Gita is that of the characteristics of the sage. Situational awareness arises when one's mind and intellect are stilled. Such manojoy is possible by gaining control or control over passions and irrational desires. One who can maintain balance in both good and bad conditions is a status expert. A person who can maintain equanimity in both happiness and sadness is strong and has a high adjustment level. It sounds difficult but with practice and understanding it is possible. Of course, no one can be free from his basic positive or negative emotions, but he can definitely maintain a balance in reacting to those emotions. Here Krishna teaches Arjuna the management of emotional quotient. The Gnana Yoga of the last six chapters asserts that the knowledge of 'Aparokshanubhuti' is the ultimate truth to overcome ignorance or ignorance. Shrikrishna as a psychologist explains that it is a sure shot solution to remove the psycho-social problems of human life. In the beginning, Shri Krishna established Arjuna as a friend and established a very beautiful relationship of 'Sayujya' meaning mutual trust, then at the end of the Gita Gyan he also said 'Yathechchasi Tatha Kuru' meaning 'I have told you everything but in the end you are allowed to act according to your understanding and desire. ' Psychotherapy and counseling have the same tone. The person receiving the treatment has a 'choice' and only then becomes more powerful. Of course, Arjun is also said to be like a good client. 'Karishye vachan tav' means 'I will follow as you say.' The message of the Bhagavad Gita cannot be confined to a few words. In short, let's remember Shri Krishna who gave a wonderful example of an excellent therapy and went above the fence of religion-irreligion or believer-atheist as an excellent philosopher. Winning Stroke The wise or positional expert is content within himself. This supreme contentment is the highest state of mental health and spirituality.
