Joban Chalke: A true example of friendship

Shefali Pandya 'Ami' Raj and Vinita Khas sisters. Both cannot go without each other. From school to college, both sit in the same class and on the same bench. Seeing their friendship, their parents often laughed and said, 'These two will have to get married only to those who have two boys in their family.' However, Viraj and Vinita made fun of this. For them, each other's support was enough. One day Hiten, who was considered the handsome hunk of the college, came to Viraj. Viraj was alone that day, Vinita did not come to college for some reason. Hitene came to Viraj and asked him for notes. Hiten kept asking to return the notes the next day. Viraj thought of Hiten all that day. He didn't notice Vineeta's absence today, because Hiten remained on his mind. The next day Hiten returned her notes. Then it had a love letter in a pink cover. When Vinita and Viraj go to the canteen for breakfast, Viraj tells Vinita about Hiten's love letter. Vinita told Viraj, 'Viraj, it's not that Hiten is handsome, but from what I know about him, I don't think it's right.' Viraj was lost in thought for a while. Then he argued, 'But never seen Hiten hanging out with any girl….' Vinita said, 'Viraj, if you are going the wrong way, it is my duty to warn you and inform you as a friend.' The next day when Hiten came to the college, he smiled charmingly at Viraj. Viraj also gave a smile, but was a bit wary as Vinita was with him. In the ongoing class, both of them met the eyes of the professor many times and there was a symbolic conversation. Leaving after the lectures, Viraj said, 'Vini, I have some work, I will be late. You go…' Viraj turned towards the library after making sure that Vineeta was gone. Hiten was sitting in a corner at the end of the library. Viraj went to her and then the sequence of meeting between the two started. Vinita also realized that Viraj no longer needed her friendship, but could not stop her sisterhood from going astray. He decided that now he will not talk to Viraj himself. One day Viraj and Hiten went for a walk and on the way Hiten's bike met with an accident. Hiten didn't mind much, but Viraj was very hurt. When he was admitted to the hospital, the doctor said, 'There is a brain injury. It cannot be said when he will come to his senses.' Hiten gave a message to Vineeta through one of his friends and took the bike himself leaving Viraj behind. Viraj regained consciousness after about fifteen days. His parents, brother and Vinita were constantly present with him in the hospital. Hiten was nowhere to be seen. When she was finally discharged after a month or so and came home, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. As Hiten was nowhere to be found during all these days, Viraj was eager to know where Hiten is? At lunchtime, while everyone was relaxing, Viraj asked Vineeta about Hiten. When Vinita informed him what had happened, Viraj was stunned. Hiten, who showed dreams of marrying himself, turned out to be a complete fool when he really needed it! He now realized that Vinita's words were not wrong. He did not lag behind in doing his duty as a personal friend. Vinita himself was at a loss to understand. From that day, Viraj decided that he would not trust any young man like this from now on.
