Inner turmoil: Belief in the power of positivity

Dr. Jai Narayan Vyas

A clear message that emerges from the Gi Topadesha is to act with faith in the power of auspiciousness. Whatever has happened has happened for good and whatever is to happen is also for good – one who works his life with this belief does not get depressed. Today, anxiety is largely responsible for lifestyle related diseases like stress, blood pressure, depression. It is said, 'Worry is the interest you are paying on the capital you have not borrowed. The fire of a cheetah burns the mortal body very quickly, but anxiety is a fire that burns a man steadily and slowly. A disciple of the great philosopher Socrates went to him for advice. He asked, 'Guruji, if there is a lot of pressure from home for marriage, should I get married or not?' “You must,'' Socrates replied bluntly, even in very mild language. After that gently Socrates said, 'If one gets a wife, calm, gentle and religious, then life will rise like Madhuvan and on the contrary if one gets a shrill like Xanthippe (Socrates's wife's name) then one will become a philosopher like me! There is no harm either way.' We are not just talking about negative energy. The Shakti of Shubhtva means 'positive energy'. The thoughts of a negative minded person are always rota and that's why it is said, 'roto jaye e muana sakha ae ae aye' or 'mand karee mandwe adhavao te village sama gola feneke'. There was a lesson in Gujarati tax book of 4th standard. A railway driver met with an accident and had to have one of his legs amputated. After the operation, he regained consciousness, so the doctor expressed his regret and said, 'We had no other option.' The driver replied with the same happy smile on his face: 'Sir, I have one leg left. I will walk with the horse. Worry if both legs are cut off! So thank you.' This is a positive attitude, a person who accepts the thought that whatever is happening, is going well according to the will of the universe and through this, what will happen in the future will also be good, does not get sad. There is no need to believe that God has helped us only if He does everything according to our expectations. An example of this is a man who has missed a flight several times and survives a plane crash. …and therefore have faith in the power of goodness and in God's grace. It requires a test. Wakes up hungry but does not go to bed hungry. One who believes in the power of this auspiciousness thinks positively. Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Yuvraj Singh, Sonali Bendre, Kiran Kher became victims of cancer. Cancer means 'Cancel' but these warriors did not give up. Believed in the power of good luck. Undertook treatment and fully recovered and resumed work in his field. Sudha Chandran met with an accident at the age of 16. His right leg had to be amputated. What does this mean for a dancer? But he did not give up and became a big name as an exceptionally accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer. Sudha Chandran also worked in television and films. This would not have been possible if they did not have faith in the power of good fortune. In 1962, when helmets were not used, in a match against the West Indies, Indian captain Nari Contractor was hit directly on the head by a ball from West Indies fast bowler Charlie Griffiths. The skull was fractured. In a recent instance, Rishabh Pant's car hit a divider and caught fire. Fortunately, it survived the fire. There were many serious injuries on the body including the head. Rishabh Pant's grit and determination brought him out of the grueling period of surgery and subsequent rehabilitation exercises and he returned to the cricket field with redoubled enthusiasm. These are just a few examples. Fortitude is a great force, which grows out of the power of auspiciousness. Negative thoughts are more dangerous than cancer in life. Stay away from negativity. Everything is going to be fine. Associate with people whose basic personality is positive. He should not fall into any kind of trouble. It is these people who are finally victorious in the battle of life. 'Bhagavad Gitaji' is a Mahagrantha preached by Lord Krishna on the plains of Kurukshetra. One of his teachings is a rooftop-crying sermon: 'What happened is good, what will happen now and hereafter will be good.'
