Happiness First That…: Fitness Strategies to Support Heart Health

Taking care of my heart is very important, but it doesn't have to be complicated or overwhelming. You can maintain your cardiovascular fitness with a few simple strategies. Let's take a look at some practical tips to help maintain heart health. 1. Move as much as possible We all know that exercise is good for the heart, but that doesn't mean you have to spend hours in the gym. The heart benefits from moving as much as possible throughout the day and sitting as little as possible. If you are new to exercise, you don't need to do rigorous fitness training, but light activity like ten minutes of walking every day can be beneficial. 2. Consume Heart Healthy Foods What you eat has a big impact on your heart. But eating healthy doesn't mean giving up all your favorites. Give special place to fruits and vegetables in diet. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help protect your heart. Consume as much whole grains as possible in the diet, such as brown rice, quinoa and whole wheat bread. Including fiber-rich foods in the diet has good results for the heart. Reducing added sugar and salt in your diet can reduce your risk of heart disease. Try eating fresh fruits instead of sugary snacks. For flavor, use herbs and spices instead of salt. 3. Stay Hydrated Staying hydrated is often overlooked, but it's crucial for your heart. Dehydration stresses your heart so aim to drink plenty of water throughout the day. If plain water doesn't feel like it, try adding slices of cucumber, lemon, or berries for a different flavor. Feeling thirsty is a sign that you need more water. Try to drink water regularly throughout the day. 4. Stress Management Stress is a normal part of life, but too much of it can affect your heart. Finding ways to manage stress can help keep your heart healthy and your mind calm. Practice mindfulness and be active. Talking to friends, family, or a support group can also help you cope with stress. Don't hesitate to reach out when you feel like talking to someone. 5. Quit smoking If you smoke, the decision to quit is a good gift to the heart. Smoking damages your blood vessels, raises your blood pressure and significantly increases your risk of heart disease. 6.Regular Check-ups It is important to monitor your heart health with regular check-ups. Regular check-ups are essential as you get older or if you have problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes. Be careful about your blood pressure, cholesterol level and blood sugar.
