'Bey Ta, I don't feel like eating right now. If I sit down with a plate without hunger, then I start feeling nauseous after barely eating two bites.' Forty-eight-year-old father Amritbhai Patel told his doctor son. Son Dr. Deepakbhai Patel M.B.B.S. After completion, he was doing his post graduation in skin department of Government Medical College, Surat. Being a doctor, Deepakbhai took his father's minor complaint seriously. Two-four supplementary questions were asked. Amritbhai's health was otherwise good. Of course, he had lost a good amount of weight in the last one-and-a-half months, but he assumed that because he was not feeling hungry, he was not eating and that must have caused the weight loss. Dr. Deepakbhai immediately took him to a physician. The physician asked several questions: 'Pain in the right side of the abdomen just below the ribs?' 'No, it doesn't hurt but it feels a little heavy there.' Amritbhai replied. The physician examined the patient's eyes, examined the fingernails, asked what color the urine was, inquired whether the stool was white, and then placed Amritbhai flat on the examination table and placed his hand on his stomach. After completing the examination, the doctor told Deepakbhai, 'Father's liver seems slightly enlarged. Some investigations will have to be done. Let us also know the opinion of a general surgeon.' After summarizing the surgeon's opinion, laboratory reports and sonography results, the surgeon came to this decision, 'Deepakbhai, papa has inflammation of the liver but it is also suspected to be a tumor. They have to be operated. If there is a tumor, a small piece of it will have to be taken and sent to the lab for biopsy. Along with that we will also remove the tumor.' Dr. Deepakbhai wasted no time in agreeing to the surgery. The operation was arranged as soon as possible. The surgeon opened the patient's abdomen. He was shocked to see the condition of the liver. Deepakbhai was present in the operation theatre. The surgeon said, 'Deepakbhai, the tumor cannot be removed. Apparently it appears to be cancer. We have to close the stomach back. Before doing that let's cut a couple of small pieces for biopsy.' The same was done. Amritbhai was kept in a private hospital. A few days later the report came from the laboratory. Amritbhai had a cancerous tumor in his liver. The type of cancer was 'hepato-cellular carcinoma'. Liver cancer is notorious as a silent killer. By the time the patient is diagnosed with any problem, it has reached the second or third stage. In Amritbhai's case the cancer was in the second stage. It had also spread to the surrounding lymph nodes. The operation could not be done. Now alternative treatment was considered. The liver was enlarged and reached the navel. Water had accumulated inside the stomach. Ascites means ascites. Amritbhai's chances of survival seemed slim. He heard that Amritbhai's son Dr. Was having serious discussions with Deepakbhai. Suddenly Amritbhai took a decision on his own and declared: 'I am no longer going to undergo any treatment invented by Western doctors. Let me treat myself.' Amritbhai overturned a few books. Discussed with informants. Then started experimenting on his lifestyle, diet and state of mind. He started with dietary changes. Stopped taking cooked food altogether. Seasonal fruits, wheat bran, its juice and sprouted grains and pulses remained for four months. Started meditating every morning and night. Then he got such joy that he meditated on one posture for twenty-four hours a day. His mind became calm and composed. The hardest decision was drinking cow urine. Cow is considered as mother by Hindus. Like everyone else, I have read and heard that its urine has medicinal properties. Experts say that consuming it keeps the body healthy. I have tried to drink cow urine many times, I could not get a single drop on my tongue. My mind, accustomed to allopathic science, could not accept that the urine of any animal could contain any beneficial substance besides the excrement of the body. To be honest, my heart accepts consumption of cow urine, but my mind and especially my tongue is not ready for it. Amritbhai was a man of unique temperament. Every morning he leaves with a bucket and goes to a well-known cowshed in the city and brings cow urine. Keep filling the lumps in the prescribed amount bit by bit throughout the day. This sequence continued for three years. What was the result of all this? Amritbhai lived another fifteen years and lived a healthy life without trying a single treatment method discovered and prescribed by Western doctors. A little about meditation. Our theology says: 'The mind is the cause of man's bondage and salvation.' In the last few years, Western scientists have also begun to accept that the mind is in control of the body. As a man's mind thinks, his body will follow. Anxiety, fear, stress, anxiety, all these can create diseases in the body due to the disturbance of the mind. This has already been proven in blood pressure, acidity, diabetes etc. There are many other diseases in which the influence of the mind plays a dominant role. The ancient healing system of our country, fruits, tradition of raw curd treatment, consumption of cow urine, all these have started to be restored now. The famous former cricketer, politician and commentator (of 'Thoko Tali' fame) famous Laughing Buddha has made a video clip and announced that his doctor wife had cancer, stage four, the best experts in the world said: 'The patient's chance of survival is only three percent. Jaitley is.' The woman started experimenting with lemon, neem leaves, raw turmeric, apple, srifal water and green copra. Changed meal times. Stopped sugar completely. Increased the gap between two meals. The cancer, which had reached stage four, disappeared in just forty days. Hair loss from chemotherapy came back. A cancer specialist from America had said with certainty forty days ago: 'The cost of treatment will run into lakhs, maybe even one or two crore rupees and the patient's chance of survival is zero percent.' When such incidents occur in front of us, we say that results which allopathic treatment could not give could be obtained by simple diet, meditation, home spices and experimenting with cow urine. Actually this is not the case for every event. The cricketer's wife underwent radical surgery and a full course of chemotherapy and then resorted to alternative therapies. The biggest benefit he got was because of the operation. Personally, I would advise that if there are one, two, three, four or five-seven treatments available for a terminal illness like cancer, all 'A' should be tried. – Title line: Marys
