Dive: The joy of enjoying a few dips

The Greek word 'minimum' means least. Minimum. From this the word 'minimalism' was born. Simply put, the principle of getting rid of everything unnecessary and attaining the satisfaction of Zaza with the least. After World War II, minimalism concept started to be experimented in almost all art. The roots of this idea can be found in the Buddhist Zen tradition. Its aim is to choose a simple path in life. By thinking of the minimum in all areas of life, we focus on what we value most and remove the obstacles that stand in the way of it. Sculpture, architecture, design and fashion also started working in that direction. Some writers are very elaborate and get the exact edge of what they want to say in few words. Music has also benefited from this concept. Famous directors of the world have made films about complex subjects in simple language without showing too much camera prowess. Readers-listeners-viewers also have to be prepared to understand the depth hidden in simplicity in these kinds of works. At least this approach is being adopted in our day-to-day lifestyle. I read an article about this in an English newspaper a year and a half ago. In it, it was emphasized on removing unnecessary items in the house and using minimum items. Illustrative information was given on how the utensils used for cooking and eating can be used more than once. For example, a dinner plate can be shaped to be used as a bowl. Now many people have started using reusable utensils. Keep only the necessary furniture in the house. A laptop can be placed on the dining table to work, read and write and it can also be a coffee table. Many people have a habit of hoarding things at home. Disposing of things that have not been used for years does not help. It is different to have a memory of the past attached to old things, but this does not apply to piles of clutter in the house. Many people are obsessed with buying Amsta-Amsta. They buy whatever they have, such as clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, household goods, and entertainment equipment. Visible, aggressive marketing and advertising also play a part. Then the house starts getting filled with small things and disorder arises. A home is not a museum of antiques, but a place of peace and spaciousness. If there is less stuff in the house, we will be able to understand the importance of everything. In the rush to get more, we lose the original purpose of life. The habit of collecting 'excess' creates unnecessary clutter. Cleaning and adjustment issues occur. This also applies to relationships. Some people get stuck in too many relationships. How much intimacy is needed in every relationship? Due to this, the expectation towards each other increases and if it is not satisfied, there is a misunderstanding. The same is the habit of talking too much. Many people cannot make their points clear and listeners lose interest, while those who like to speak less can easily convey their point in fewer sentences. When I was living in Mumbai, the movie 'Pretty Woman' was playing at the Regal Theatre. A big poster of the hero-heroine of the film was placed outside the theatre. One late night, when I passed by, a couple from the village was sleeping peacefully under the poster with their heads on a single small pot. They both looked like kings and queens. The great Chinese thinker Lao Tzu said centuries ago to be content with what you have so that you can enjoy what you have. The day you feel that you are missing nothing, the whole world will be yours.}
