Dear Vasundhara: EV cars are easy on the pocket, heavy on the environment?

When the name of car or bike is mentioned, we immediately see the saving cost of petrol, diesel, but in fact, hybrid cars and EV cars are harmful to the environment, the research is claiming. EV stands for electric vehicle, which runs using an electric motor and battery and can be charged from an external source of electricity. Apart from cars, EVs also include e-scooters and e-bikes. There are 147 million cars plying on the world's roads, four million of which are EV cars. Today we have to talk about the environment! I. I. A study by T Kanpur challenges the claim that electronic cars are more eco-friendly than hybrid cars and conventional combustion engine cars. The study was conducted with the assistance of IIT Kanpur, Japan. The study divided the vehicles into three categories – two foreign and one Indian category. I. I. T. According to Kanpur's Engine Research Lab, the production, use and scrapping of electric cars produces 15 to 50 percent more greenhouse gases than hybrid and conventional engine cars. In day-to-day terms, mileage and cost analysis, purchase, insurance and maintenance of electric vehicles (EVs) also prove to account for 15-60 percent. The study also showed that hybrid electric cars are the most eco-friendly. Why dangerous for the environment? According to research, electric vehicles are more harmful to the environment. EV battery electric cars produce 15-50 percent more greenhouse gas than other vehicles in various categories. At present 75 percent of electricity in the country is generated from coal. It emits carbon dioxide. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) emit less greenhouse gas than the other two categories of vehicles, but are more expensive than the other two categories of cars. In addition, the use of rare earth elements when disposing of these batteries after their lifecycle and even in the production of electric car batteries adds to pollution concerns. U. S. According to Energy Information Administration statistics, fossil fuel use accounts for 73% of US greenhouse gas emissions and tailpipe emissions account for 40%. After China, India is the second largest producer of coal in the world. EVs have electric motors for power instead of internal combustion engines, so they produce no tailpipe emissions. This means that, if the world switches to electric cars, the number of greenhouse gases will be significantly reduced directly, but indirectly it will prove to be costly. Negative effects of electric cars on the environment EV manufacturers have always been in a race to create more powerful and efficient batteries. Metals such as cobalt and lithium are required in large quantities to make these complex batteries. Unfortunately, experts around the world believe that the mining process for these metals is not sustainable or fair for that matter. According to the 'Columbia Climate School', getting the amount of lithium to make a single battery emits 70 percent more carbon than producing a conventional car. Tire costs are high and expensive tire production pollutes the air in many parts of the world. EV tires are wearing out 20 percent faster than a fuel-powered vehicle, mainly due to the added weight of EVs as well as their instant torque delivery. EVs are a good option for taxi use Not only are there disadvantages to EV cars, this study also highlights their advantages. As such, EV cars will prove to be cheaper for taxi purposes. Despite the damage to the environment, battery electric cars are being encouraged by lower taxes and other benefits to buyers. Hybrid cars are getting twice the mileage per liter as compared to conventional engine cars. For personal use, a car with a conventional engine is cheaper than a battery-powered car. But battery powered cars are more efficient for taxi operators. While hybrid vehicles are environmentally friendly. Positive effects of electric cars on the environment There are also many reasons why EVs are good for the environment, such as reduced direct visible air pollution, less waste and safer manufacturing processes. Overall, the extraction and transportation of fossil fuels imposes significant burdens on the environment. EVs can reduce the world's demand for and dependence on fossil fuels, except for the electricity they charge. Electric vehicles are not a magic bullet to solve climate change and crisis. Right now it may seem like buying an EV will help reduce the carbon footprint, but the current manufacturing process is still harmful to the environment. But while the EV is not perfect, it is taking an alternative position to the other two cars. Currently driving electric vehicles is beneficial to the environment by reducing tailpipe emissions. There is no doubt that the environmental impact of EVs will decrease when the manufacturing process and maintenance, including charging infrastructure, are built with renewable energy! }
