Keval Umratiya Sen kado people are being victims of cyber fraud every day. Cyber crooks are using new techniques every day to steal people's hard earned money. Despite so many incidents, news and awareness by the government, people are falling prey to cyber fraud. In most cases there are only two reasons, the first is temptation and the second is fear. By using these two weapons, cyber crooks are easily robbing people. Today we want to talk about two such frauds. A message comes on the mobile phone of people who are lured by income tax refund. It says, 'Your income tax refund of Rs 20,000 has been approved. This amount will soon be deposited in your account number 32xxxxx77. If the account details are not correct then update the account details by clicking on the link below.' Those who clicked on the link after being lured by the refund, understand that this message is not from the Income Tax Department, but from cyber gangs. It doesn't contain anything like an account number, it's just a random number. So that people misunderstand it and click on the link. As soon as you click on the link, it will ask you to update your bank account details, debit card and sometimes even credit card information. Then it will also ask for OTP in the name of verification. Empty bank account for which you will give OTP. Apart from this, some messages contain a helpline number, on which you are asked to call to update your bank details. This number is also wrong. If you call them, the Gathiyas will speak to you as an employee of the Income Tax Department and get all the details from you. Apart from this, people are also being victimized by fake pop ups. That is, such messages pop up in the form of advertisements on social media or internet. If you click on it by mistake, then understand that the account is cleared. An advisory was also released by the Income Tax Department some time ago. However, people are losing their capital in the lure of refunds. Remember this Income Tax department never gives refund information through message, phone or pop up like this. As per the protocol, the communication is done only on the registered email id. The Income Tax Department must have your bank account details. These details have to be provided only when the return is filed. However, if you have any confusion, want to know the refund status or receive any such message, first contact your CA who has paid your refund. Don't fall into the trap of such false messages, calls or pop ups. Understand that if you miss a little bit, you get lime. If such a fraud happens to you or someone around you, immediately complain to both the bank and cyber cell. Fearing legal action, people are getting letters in the mail in the name of Ministry of Home Affairs or Indian Police. The letter written on the letterhead contains several allegations. The main allegation is that 'Our investigation has revealed that you watch child pornography while sitting at home or office. Which is considered a serious crime.' After that, an explanation is sought showing the fear of legal action regarding this. Now what happens is that most people get scared just by hearing the name of Ministry of Home Affairs, Police, Child Pornography and Legal Action. People are afraid to tell others because of accusations of child pornography. But, taking advantage of this fear, the ghouls rob. A large amount is charged in the name of settlement by being a Home Ministry or police officer. The fact is that no such 'porn letters' are released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Cyber Cell or Police. This is a new type of cyber fraud. So if you get any such letter, instead of being afraid, immediately report it to the cyber crime department, so that other people can be saved from such fraud. Remember this, if any police officer, customs officer or army man demands money over the phone, in a message or on a video call, showing any kind of fear, then understand that there is something dark in the dal. If something like this happens, talk to your close people without fear, take proper advice and only then take a decision.
