Crime Secret: The sound of firecrackers drowned out the sound of bullets

Raj Bhaskar

12th November-2023 was Diwali night. Inspector Satishkumar Singh, who lives in Manasnagar, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, had taken one of his relatives there to eat at Rajajipuram that day. His wife Bhavna and 10-year-old daughter Shobha were also there. At about half past one, Satishkumar took the car and left to come home from there. That day Bhavna was having severe stomach pain. So Bhavna was lying on the back seat with her daughter. Soon his eyes started getting dark. Inspector Satishkumar Singh Manasnagar reached his home at ten minutes past two o'clock. It was Diwali night. The atmosphere was resounding with the crackling of firecrackers. Inspector Satishkumar got down from the car and approached the gate when he was fired upon. Five bullets entered the body. A terrible scream came out of his throat and he fell down. Meanwhile, the sounds of firecrackers were going on. The noise drowned out the sound of the bullets. Bhavna's eyes opened as soon as the fifth bullet was fired. It came running. The husband was bleeding. Bhavna screamed and called the police. After that he immediately made a tearful call to his pier ten kilometers away. In a few minutes, police and neighbors gathered. Bhavna's father Tara Singh, mother Sulochana and younger brother Devendra Singh also came running. Immediately Inspector Satishkumar was rushed to Lokbandhu Hospital. Doctors declared him dead there. The ground slipped under everyone's feet. The police interrogated Bhavna late in the evening after Inspector Satishkumar was cremated the next day. Spirit did all the talking. The police asked, 'But when you got down from the car, did you see anyone around?' Bhavna said, 'Yes, sir, I saw a person running away with a bicycle. I couldn't see his face because he was wearing a hoodie and had something tied over his mouth too.' 'You suspect someone?' The police asked an important question. And what the spirit said next was shocking. 'Sir, there is a doubt… But before that, listen to me. At times like this, I talk a little unusefully, but my mind says that my husband was the way he was and this talk has to be done to catch his killer.' Hearing Bhavna's words, the police's ears perked up. 'Sir, I loved my husband dearly, but he did not love me. He had flings with many girls and even went to prostitutes. Two-four months ago, he brought the colgirl home. My ten year old daughter was shocked to see all this. We used to fight about this. They were harassing me physically and mentally. Another thing that he told me one day is that he is looking for a treasure by doing tantra-mantra. He was in contact with a Tantrik from Fatehpura. He told them that bring a girl without a single blemish on her body and then perform a ritual and I will bring you a hidden treasure of billions of rupees. I don't know that Tantrik. He told me this himself. Maybe that Tantrik had a hand in it or maybe a coal girl or her pimp. That's why I told you this. Otherwise, I am not the one to abuse my own husband after his death.' After saying this, Bhavna broke down and cried. Bhavna's talk gave many directions to the police. The police team checked more than 400 CCTV footages of the surrounding area. The call history of inspector Satishkumar, Bhavna and many others were checked. Interrogated several callgirls and also set the wheels in motion to find the Tantrik of Fatehpura. In all this, the police found a small piece of evidence. In the CCTV footage, a young man was seen carrying a bicycle. He left from Inspector Satishkumar's house pass. He was wearing a hoodie and had a handkerchief tied around his mouth. From there he came to Vijayanagar police station. He went to a galla in the dark and changed his clothes. Then he walked away and disappeared on the highway by e-rickshaw. The police found the e-rickshaw and searched, but there was no clue of the killer from the call history, the rickshaw, or even the Tantric. Five days had passed. The so-called Jambaz UP police could not find the killer of one of their comrades, but suddenly one day an inspector got an idea to check Satish Singh's car. And this idea revealed the secret of the whole crime. The case was beyond tantric, callgirl and many other things. We will see how the killer was caught from that car and who he was next Wednesday.
