At the edge of education: We neither learn nor teach the new generation!

Dr. Ashok Patel

This culture is also old and benevolent full of humanity. We are all proud of our culture. Sages and saints have taught us the lessons of goodness, kindness and benevolence. Gandhi also taught the lessons of truth, non-violence, non-stealing etc. Yet we all have forgotten all that. The world is moving forward and many of us are falling behind. There are many things in which we are far ahead of other countries that don't even have their own culture. Then we have not actually learned much and are not teaching the new generation. The culture of a country like Australia is only 150-200 years old. There were people standing in line to get into the elevator in a mall. A pregnant woman came there. Everyone in the line moved aside and made room for the woman to be the first to get into the elevator. Here a pregnant woman is not looked at with pity, but with respect. Not only this, couples with small children are also given priority in the queue. Why can't we all show such humanity? Not only that, if there are people standing in a line, no one tries to break the line and move forward. They do not push each other and do not even touch each other. Even if it is done by mistake, the word 'sorry' will come. Why don't we do this there? A small country like Bhutan is far ahead of us in terms of traffic. If there is a competition in terms of breaking traffic rules, we must be in the top ten out of 200 countries. In most countries zebra crossings are given importance. Seeing a person standing on a zebra, the driver brakes and lets the first person cross the road. They know that the pedestrian has the first right of way at a zebra crossing, not the motorist. Even in the middle of the night on four roads, people keep their vehicles parked after seeing the red light. In the vehicle, the driver himself fastens his seatbelt, but all other passengers also fasten their seatbelts. Child seats are mandatory for small children. Why don't we do it there? Today many people benefit themselves by harming others. Like, confused, underweight. Gaining one's own advantage by concealing or deceiving another into confidence. All this seems to have become normal, when the question arises, where do people learn such things? Schools and colleges do not teach anything like this. If the parents are doing wrong in the house, then the children will learn from doing wrong or they learn from society. Does such a teacher have the right to take pride in Indian culture? Why is the number of law breakers increasing in our country? Why does the mindset of seeing one's own convenience or benefit increase? Can we avoid such negative things? How civilized or Indian are those who throw leaves in public places? How many keep the time given to meet each other? Foreign countries are more sincere than us in many matters like the above. Proud of our culture we are apathetic and callous. We have not learned all this and are not teaching it to the new generation. The first responsibility to teach all this comes from the home. It is the parent who should teach his child the lessons of morality and make him obey. After home comes the responsibility of school and society. Formal education should be imparted in schools and society should provide examples. The government should also make efforts to ensure strict compliance with laws and regulations and be strict if necessary. Everyone wants that after Diwali in the new year home – school – society and government should work together and teach the lessons of humanity and morality to the old or new generation. Ashoka: Gains gained by deceit never give inner joy. The future life of deceitful people is miserable.
