At the Edge of Education: The Principal's Job of Telling, Listening or Caring?

Dr. Ashok Patel

This charya sees himself as a school-college administrator, a concept which is incomplete. If the principal's role is only administrative, then MBA. Candidate can be appointed. If the principal's job is to ring the bell, mark the stocks with red signature in the muster, send the salary bill, kick the teacher who does not go to the classroom on time, see if the house is clean etc., then even a graduate youth can do that job. Why is only an experienced teacher of ten-fifteen years assigned for this? In fact, an Acharya is twice a teacher, but out of many teachers, a teacher becomes a teacher after becoming an Acharya. Preference is given to teacher experience in appointment of Acharya. Acharya is not only the administrator of the school-college, but also the captain and captain of the school-college ship. He has to manage the school and college. To take care of means to take care of, to preserve, to preserve, to maintain, to take (responsibility of), to manage, to take care of, to be careful or watchful of. What is the role of principal in school-college? Today, the Acharya himself decides his role, what to do and how much to do. Most of the time, the principal who defines his role in this way believes that his main job is to 'narrate'. To push teachers and students for not working according to their beliefs in schools and colleges. Sometimes parents are also involved. Yes, some principals are truly role-playing. Some principals are more interested in telling themselves than listening to others. Which they understand as their main role. In fact, if the principal starts listening to others rather than dictating to others, the institution and the students will benefit more. Along with the school-college, the principal has to handle the students, classroom, society, government policies etc. However, many Acharyas prefer to tell rather than listen. Acharya has to keep abreast of current issues and trends. For that one has to keep eyes and ears open. Listening opportunities should be sought by attending various seminars, learning from other expert persons, attending educational programs, discussing with teachers and students, etc., so as to know the solution of today's problem and future need or demand. What should the principal hear? When to listen? The qualities of listening to whom etc. should flourish. Small problems often arise in schools and colleges, in which many suggestions also come. At that time the above qualities become very useful. Listening and thinking first, then deciding who to tell? What, how much and when to convey. This is also a matter of constant learning. Which can be learned by experience, but when there is not enough experience, do not hesitate to consult an expert and a neutral person. Thus, Baji can be handled by hearing at the right place and then reciting at the right place. For this there should be enough democracy or freedom in the organization and especially in one's office. An organization where there is no freedom to express ideas or make suggestions will stink in and around the organization. A principal who does not listen to students and teachers can never be successful. The institution will go into decline. Acharya should take certain decisions with more interest in listening than in telling. Every decision of the principal affects the progress of students, teachers and the institution. Acharya has to do acharyagiri in real sense by staying away from bully and jamadargiri, for which one has to be careful of people who do gossip. We have often heard, 'The customer is always right.' If a slogan like that 'Student is always right' is adopted in schools and colleges, everyone will benefit. The responsibility of making this slogan effective rests with the Principal. School-college, teachers or principals are all for the students. Not for teachers, principals or trustees. It is an important duty of the principal and teacher to listen fully to the student. Ashoka : A typical principal lets the teachers and students do whatever they want to do. When a good principal makes the teacher and the students do what they don't want to do but they have to do.
