Adhikharu Kutch: Gulf of Kutch: Witness to thousands of earthquakes

Naveen Joshi

As much as the name 'Kutch' is famous, the 'Gulf of Kutch' is more famous than that, so the name is only connected with this Gulf of Kutch, while its sea part is more connected with the sea of Okha, Bet Dwarka, Jamnagar. Gulf of Kutch sea route is very much discussed because Mumbai attack accused, drug smuggling, weapons or nefarious rangers are all happening in Gulf of Kutch and that's why today 'Gulf of Kutch' means 'Gulf of Kutch' from the point of view of scientist. Will literally try. Apart from the small deserts of Kutch, the 'Gulf of Kutch' often graces the pages of newspapers, but in reality information about this gulf is not generally available. Originally from Kutch and worked as a scientist in 'ISRO', Dr. P. S. Thakkar, in his articles highlighting the Gulf of Kutch, states that the Gulf of Kutch is entered through Okha. 50 km to enter Gulf near Okha. As wide as the waterway is, there are twelve. Leaving Samkhiyali and moving forward, Surajbari bridge comes. That place is the last part of the Gulf of Kutch. It can be said that this Gulf of Kutch is 250 km in total. It has a long southern coast and a continuous 200 km. is Just as the district of Kutch is rich in biodiversity and Kutch is home to species that are either extinct or endangered anywhere else in the world, the Gulf of Kutch is also extremely rich, as the entire Gulf of Kutch has been designated as a 'Sanctuary' and a 'National Marine Park'. Parks' are declared, meaning the Gulf's terrain is highly sensitive and extremely valuable to human civilization, protected. Before the 2001 earthquake that ravaged Kutch, major earthquakes were recorded in 1819 and 1956, but this gulf is a witness of thousands and millions of years of earthquakes. When a tsunami occurs after an earthquake in the sea or an earthquake occurs on earth, a part of the land settles down and the sea water rushes into that part, creating a 'gulf'. We believe that the Gulf of Kutch has seen earthquakes and tsunamis in millions of years, but scientists have researched in this direction and concluded that there was no Gulf of Kutch or Khambhat in the past, but it was created through earthquakes and tsunamis and was gradually established. The mouth of Gulf of Kutch is called Okha. In that view Dr. P. S. Thakkar notes that west of the mouth is Okha. Proceeding eastward from there, Salaya, Wadinar, Sikka, Bedi of Jamnagar, Rozi, Sachana, Jodia and Navalkhi come on the south bank while Kandla, Mundra and Mandvi stand on the north bank. The important thing is that not only in Gujarat but now the important ports of Mundra Adani and Deendayal Port Kandla, Okha, Salaya all the ports are standing in the Gulf of Kutch. Not only this, Jamnagar-based Reliance also has Asia's largest refinery in the Gulf of Kutch. There are 42 small and large islands in the Gulf of Kutch, whose land surface is exposed at times. Corals, patch corals, living corals exist on the shores of the islands that are submerged in the sea at high tide and are therefore national treasures. A marine sanctuary and a marine national park were established in the Gulf of Kutch in 1980 and 1982, respectively, under the Wildlife Protection Act-1972. Both these places are also included in Devbhoomi Dwarka and Jamnagar districts in the Gulf of Kutch, with a total area of 620.81 sq km. is, islands in 148.9 sq. km and 309.2 km. The area is in a sea that moves in and out at high tide. The National Marine Park is spread over 162.89 sq. km. This gulf of Kutch attracts scientists, curious, explorers from all over the world, as around 800 different types of ecosystems – flora and fauna species are found in this gulf. There are hard corals, soft corals, Piroton Island is world famous. The island is home to a golden jackal that eats crabs. Now that life is on the verge of extinction. 45 thousand year old corals have been found near Okha in the Gulf of Kutch. The youngest shelf is considered. Its life span is also 5260 years scientists show. While cheria is found on all these islands, environmentalists are concerned that cheria has declined in the Gulf of Kutch. The cause is believed to be chemicals released into the sea. Thus, the total area of India is 2374.9 sq. km. Corals are found in marine areas. Of which 352.5 sq.km is in the Gulf of Kutch. This former ISRO scientist has noted that the area is in Gujarat. 53 different species of corals have also been found in Gujarat. When there was no science or scientists, no research, this strip of sea-land was named 'Gulf of Kutch'. Akharu' means magical.
