World Chess Championship-Gukesh draws second game: Chinese loses first game to defending champion Liren, retains lead

The second game of the World Chess Championship was drawn between Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh and defending champion Ding Liren on Tuesday. Liren defeated Gukesh in the first game on 25 November. Liren's score is 1.5 and Gukesh's score is 0.5 in 14 games.

The FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 is underway in Singapore. 14 games will be played in this. It will run till December 12. A tiebreaker match, if required, will be played on December 13.

This is the first time in the history of the World Chess Championship that two Asian players are facing each other to become the World Champion.

There will be 14 rounds in the final match The final will consist of 14 rounds, with a tiebreaker if necessary. Gukesh and Ding will get 1 point for winning the game and 0.5 point for a draw. 7.5 points are needed to win the championship. If the score remains tied after 14 rounds, the winner will be determined by a tiebreaker with quick time control.

Look at Gukesh, if he wins he will become world champion In this match, all eyes will be on the young De Gukesh, who will become the world champion if he succeeds in defeating the world champion Ding Liren of China. He will be the second Indian to do so. Viswanathan Anand has become the world champion 5 times.

Gukesh won the Candidates Chess Tournament in Toronto in April. He became the youngest player (17 years) to do so. Before Gukesh, Russian player Garry Kasparov won the tournament at the youngest age of 22 in 1984.

Who is De Gukesh? D Gukesh's full name is Domraju Gukesh and he is a resident of Chennai. Gukesh was born on 7 May 2006 in Chennai. He started playing chess at the age of 7. He was initially coached by Bhaskar Nagaiah.

Nagaiah has been an international chess player and home chess tutor in Chennai. After this, Viswanathan Anand gave Gukesh information about the game as well as coaching. Gukesh's father is a doctor and mother is a microbiologist by profession.
