Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh defeated China's Ding Liren in the final of the World Chess Championship for the second time. 18-year-old Gukesh defeated defending champion Liren in the 11th game. He also won the third game. In this 29-move match on Sunday, Gukesh had a time advantage against the Chinese player. After which Ding Liren resigned.
After this win, Gukesh leads 6-5 in the finals of 14 games. He has taken the lead for the first time in the final. He is now 1.5 points away from the world title. The first player to reach 7.5 points will win the match and be called the new World Champion.

Only 3 matches are left in the championship with a prize money of 25 lakh dollars (approx Rs 21.14 crore). If the score remains equal after 14 rounds, matches will be played under 'faster time control' to decide the winner. It's like a tie breaker.
