World champion Indian women's wrestling team stranded in Jordan: SAI booked coach and players on separate flights, team wins 5 golds

India's under-17 women's wrestling team, returning from winning the World Championship, is stuck at Amman airport in Jordan. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the wrestlers have missed their flight. Because, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) had booked the tickets of the players and coaches on different airways. The team won the team championship by winning a total of 8 medals including 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. The official statement of SAI in this matter is yet to come. 9 girls stranded due to negligence of SAI and WFI According to information received, 9 women wrestlers and 3 coaches were supposed to return to India on Saturday evening, but their tickets were booked on different flights. Coaches Jay Bhagwan, Shilpi Sheoran and Rekha Rani were to board an Emirates flight with a stopover in Dubai, while the young wrestlers were booked on Qatar Airways. The coach flight (EK904) departed from Amman at 6:10 PM and was scheduled to reach Dubai at 10:10 PM. From there he was supposed to board another plane at 3:55 am and reach Delhi at 9:05 am. Whereas, the wrestlers flight (QR401) took off at 8:30 pm and was supposed to reach Doha at 11:10 pm, but this flight took off only at 6:18 pm. It is not clear if the flight time has changed. SAI wrote in this post a day ago – 'The future of Indian wrestling is in safe hands.' But due to the negligence of SAI and WFI, girls under the age of 17 were trapped in Jordan, raising questions whether Indian wrestlers are in safe hands? A source close to the team busy bringing back the WFI players said that there should be at least one coach with the young wrestlers. Efforts are now being made to bring them by the first available flight. Meanwhile, an official of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) said that efforts are being made to bring the wrestlers back home on the first available flight. SAI praised the players at the X post
