Women's World Cup- England top Group B: beat South Africa by 7 wickets; Sophie Eccleston Player of the Match

In the ninth match of the Women's World Cup, England defeated South Africa by 7 wickets. With this, England has reached the top of Group B. At the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat and scored 124 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Sophie Ecclestone took 2 wickets for 15 runs.

The England team that came to chase the target played an innings of 48 runs not out with Natalie Siver Brunt not out 48 and opener Daniel Wyatt 43 runs. Both shared 64 runs in 55 balls for the third wicket. England won the match with 4 balls to spare due to the match winning partnership.

Sophie Eccleston bowled out South African captain Laura Woolworth for 42 runs.

Player of the match Eccleston The English team, who defeated Bangladesh in their first match, took South Africa's first wicket for 31 runs. Here, Tajmin Britt was dismissed by Linsey Smith. Captain Laura Woolworth batted brilliantly. He gave the team a good start and scored 42 runs. He was bowled by Eccleston. Sophie Eccleston dismissed two key batsmen of the South African women's team and turned the match in England's favour. Apart from Laura Woolworth, Annie Dirksen played an unbeaten 20 off 11 balls and Maryjan Kapp played an innings of 26 runs off 17 balls.

Sophie Ecclestone took 2 wickets for 15 runs.

Brunt and Wyatt's match winning partnership Chasing 125 runs, the English team got off to a poor start. The team lost its first wicket for 16 runs. After this Siver Brunt scored an unbeaten 48 off 36 balls. He hit six fours in his innings. Brunt shared a partnership of 64 runs off 55 balls with opener Wyatt. Daniel Wyatt hit 4 fours in an innings of 43 runs.

Marizan Cape for South Africa, n. Malaba and Nadine de Klerk took one wicket each. Earlier, Cap also contributed 26 runs in 17 balls with the bat. Like the previous match, in this match also England team came with four spinners.

Brunt and Wyatt combined for 64 runs off 55 balls.
