Sherfan Rutherford's maiden ODI century helped West Indies snap an 11-match losing streak against Bangladesh and register a five-wicket victory.
The Caribbean team chased down a target of 295 runs in St. Kitts to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The hero of the win was Rutherford, who after a slow start scored 113 off 80 balls to lead the team to victory. He was adjudged player of the match.
West Indies needed 161 off 114 balls at one point, but chased down the target with 14 balls to spare.
Rutherford was hit twice on the helmet by the ball Rutherford was hit on his helmet twice by the ball, but still completed his century. He completed his century in the 47th over when Bangladesh conceded 6 runs in an over. He then hit Soumya Sarkar for a six over long-off and midwicket, then he hit a short six over third man, where Nahid Rana made no mistake and took the catch. But by then West Indies needed only 7 runs to win.

Rutherford shared a half-century partnership with captain Shai Hope and Justin Greaves Rutherford led the innings along with captain Shai Hope and Justin Greaves. Rutherford shared a 99-run partnership with Hope for the fourth wicket. Hope played an innings of 86 runs off 88 balls. He shared a 57-ball 95-run partnership with Justin Greaves for the fifth wicket. Greaves scored an unbeaten 41 off 31 balls with the help of five fours.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed, Naseed Rana, Rishar Hussain, Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Soumya Sarkar took one wicket each.
Rutherford shared a 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket with captain Shai Hope.
