Kambli was admitted to a Thane hospital late on the night of December 21 as his health deteriorated. A medical report revealed a clot in his brain. Recently he was seen on Coach Ramakant Achrekar's programme. His video with Sachin Tendulkar also went viral. Kambli also suffered a heart attack in 2013. After that, Tendulkar underwent his heart surgery.

When Kambli cried on the field On March 13, 1996, the World Cup semi-final was played between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Sri Lanka scored 251 runs. In reply, the Indian team was in good shape at one point losing one wicket for 98 runs, but the team's batting order collapsed after Sachin's dismissal. Team India lost 8 wickets for 120 runs.
