Team India's Pink Ball Surrender: Batters were caught in the swing-bounce trap, with Head falling heavily to drop the catch twice; Know the reasons for defeat

Team India had to face a crushing defeat against Australia by 10 wickets in the Adelaide Test. In this day-night test played with the pink ball, the Indian team looked sluggish in all three departments namely batting, bowling and fielding.

India lost 20 wickets in just 81 overs in the two-and-a-half-day match. India scored a combined 355 runs in both innings, while the Kangaroos team scored 337 runs in the first innings itself. The host team lost only 10 wickets.

In the second innings, the Indian team could not put together more than 30 runs, which was the biggest reason for the defeat. Understand other reasons for failure in 4 more factors…

1. Crash against the swing-bounce of the pink ball The Indian batsmen looked very confused with the swing and extra bounce of the pink ball. On the first day, the ball was swinging 1.6 degrees. In such a situation, the Indian team collapsed in the first two sessions of the first day. Rohit won the toss and chose to bat.

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who came to open in place of the captain, were also dismissed in the same way. Both were sent to the pavilion by Mitchell Starc. The Indian batters were caught out on a bouncy ball swinging outside the off stump. Even the other batters could not cope with the extra swing and bounce of the pink ball. At one point India's score was 71/1. Then the wickets of Rahul, Virat and Gill fell in the next 10 runs.

2. Bowlers could not take wickets in flood lights The Indian pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah failed to pick up wickets in the floodlights. By the evening of the first day, Australia's batsmen were at the crease. After the Indian team got all out, it seemed that the Indian fast bowlers would make the Kangaroos sweat in the last session, but the opposite happened. By the end of the first day's play, Australia had scored 86 runs for one wicket.

3. Fail to play under lights condition By Saturday evening, the Indian batsmen were at the crease, but the Indian batsmen failed to play in the reduced second innings conditions. India's score at stumps on the second day was 128/5. Opener KL Rahul was dismissed for 7 runs, Virat Kohli for 11 and Rohit Sharma for 6 runs. This time Pat Cummins and Scott Boland took 2 wickets each.

4. After dropping 2 catches of Travis Head, he scored 65 more runs Travis Head received 2 life lines. Mohammad Siraj dropped his catch at the first opportunity. He was playing on 75 runs then. After this the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant could not catch the ball from Harshit Rana. Later, Travis Head played an innings of 140 runs. With the help of his innings, Australia scored 337 runs, which gave the Kangaroos a huge lead of 157 runs. The Australian team scored 251 runs in the first two sessions of the second day of the match.
