Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has questioned the playing-11 of the Indian team in the Sydney Test. The former spinner said- 'Team India should not be selected for the England tour based on the size of the players. The selectors should decide if the senior players should participate in county cricket.'
Harbhajan also advocated for older players to play domestic cricket. The Indian team lost against Australia by 6 wickets in the Sydney Test in two and a half days. Due to which the team had to lose the Border-Gavaskar trophy after 10 years.
Questions were raised on having 2 spinners in the last match Harbhajan said that Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury before the second innings. He could not play. In such a situation, the responsibility of defending a modest target of 162 runs was on the shoulders of Mohammad Siraj and the famous Krishna. Hishan was playing the first match in this series. There was no point in including two spinners in the playing XI on the Sydney pitch.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled just three overs in the match while Washington Sundar bowled just one over at the end of the second innings. If there was a seamer in the team, the situation might be different.
Criticized Rohit and Virat too for not scoring runs Harbhajan criticized the runs scored by Rohit and Virat in the series. He said that both these players were out when the team needed them.
Gavaskar targeted the coach after the match A day ago on Sunday, veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar targeted the coach of the Indian team. While speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar said-
What was your coaching staff doing? Look at your bowling coach, batting coach… the way we were bowled out for 46 runs against New Zealand. After that, the way we lost the rest of the match, we had no strength in our batting. There was no strength in batting here either. So the question should be asked, brother, what did you guys do? Why is it not showing improvement?
Gavaskar said-
There were many good balls which our batsmen could not deal with. That reason is good, if there is a good bowler and a good ball then there is no problem. Even great players face problems when the good ball comes. But when it doesn't, tell me what you did? In the future we will ask should we play them, we should also ask should we continue this coaching staff?
Indian team is targeting former cricketers The Indian cricket team is under attack from former cricketers after losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
