The Women's Premier League (WPL) next season's auction was held last Sunday in Bengaluru. In which the five franchises spent a total of Rs 9.05 crore to include 19 players in the team, out of which 4 became millionaires. In which 22-year-old Simran Sheikh was the most expensive player. He was included in the team by Gujarat for 1.90 crore rupees. So West Indies' Diandra Dottin was included in the team for 1.70 crores. Gujarat included Prakashika Naik for 10 lakhs and England's Daniel Gibson for 30 lakhs. Head coach Michael Klinger and new bowling coach Praveen Tambe termed this auction as a success from the team's point of view. Coach Michael Klinger said, 'We needed a power hitter in the team. Which we achieved from the auction. Apart from this we have retained the core group from the previous season. Due to which we hope to perform well in the next season. Simran will further strengthen the batting line-up. Being a local player is a plus point. Beth Mooney's backup to the team could be Phoebe Litchfield as a keeper if needed. We included Gibson in the team, who can contribute in the batting as well as bowl well in the death overs.'
