Fast bowler Mohammad Shami is back in the T-20 series against England. He will play international matches after the ODI World Cup final. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have been rested.
The Indian Express has made this claim citing BCCI sources. According to the report, young openers Yashshwi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been included in the squad. Harshit Rana will also make his T20 debut.
The first match of the T-20 series will be played on January 22. After that, 3 ODI series will start from February 6.

- Mohammed Shami is making a comeback after 14 months. He played his last match for India on 19 November 2023.
- Abhishek Sharma was dropped, replaced by Yashaswi Jaiswal.
- Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Avesh Khan did not get a place. Dhruv Jurel and Harshit Rana were placed.
- Four all-rounders were included in the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar.
Shami performed strongly in domestic cricket Shami returned from injury in Bengal's match against Madhya Pradesh in Round-1 of the Ranji Trophy. He also played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI), raising hopes of his comeback in the Indian team.
Had a foot surgery in January last year Shami underwent ankle surgery in England in January-2024. For the past several months, Shami has been in a rehab camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
