Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami is all set to make a comeback on the field after almost a year. He has been included in the Bengal squad for the fifth round of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The Bengal team will face Madhya Pradesh in Indore from November 13.
With this match, Shami will make a comeback in cricket after almost a year. He has been away from the field since last year's ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad.
If Shami proves his fitness in this match, he is expected to be included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Shami was expected to be selected in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Earlier, Shami's fitness was being closely monitored ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, he was not selected in the squad for the five-Test series. Even before that team was selected, Shami had said that he hoped to go to Australia after playing one or two Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal.
The last match was played on November 19 Shami played his last international match on 19 November 2023 in the final of the ODI World Cup against Australia. Shami went to England in January this year and underwent surgery on his leg. He spent the last several months undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has played 64 Test matches for India. Shami has 229 Test wickets to his name.
