The new season of the SFA Championship starts today. The event will see 14,764 athletes competing. In which 387 school children aged 3 to 18 years will participate in 16 games, these games will be held at 4 venues. There has been a double increase in players from Ahmedabad since last season. These kids will get an opportunity to showcase their skills at IIT Gandhinagar, Pandit Deendayal Energy University- PDEU, Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Complex. This year's championship will run till November 26.
Rashas Joshi, COO and Founding Member of SFA Championship said, 'The SFA Championship is a means of celebration to promote sports and young talent across India. This event is not just a competition. It allows players to participate in the game regardless of their background. So that an environment can be created to find the players who achieve the passion to advance in sports.'

'Coach-Day' will be celebrated on 22nd and a special 'She is Gold-Day' will be celebrated on 24th. In the SFA Championship, 22nd November will be celebrated as 'Coach's Day' and 24th November as 'She is Gold-Day'. On November 24, 80 percent of the matches will be given a chance only to women players. On this day, the coaches and officials will also be mostly women. Sports like athletics, badminton, football, chess, kabaddi, karate, swimming, kho-kho, basketball, table tennis, volleyball and yoga will participate in the SFA Championship.
