Rohit Sharma to open in Boxing Day Test: Rahul to play at No.3, Rohit said – We will do what is best for the team

Indian captain Rohit Sharma may open alongside Yashaswi Jaiswal in the Melbourne Test. While KL Rahul can be dropped at number-3. Not only this, the Indian team can go with 2 spinners in the Boxing-Day Test. Nitish Reddy may be dropped.

The Times of India has made this claim in its report. A day ago, Rohit Sharma kept suspense over his batting order.

He said- 'Don't worry about who will bat where. We need to think about this and it is not something I discuss here. We will do what is best for the team.'

The fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) will be played from December 26 at the MCG ground in Melbourne. Rohit did not play the first match of the 5 Test series, being replaced by KL Rahul in the opener. After this, in the two Tests, Rahul opened and Rohit came in at number six, but could only score 19 runs.

Rohit injured his knee on Sunday 22nd December. He was seen sliding off the snow.

Rohit landed at number-6 in the last 2 matches, scoring only 19 runs Rohit Sharma was unable to play the first Test match due to the birth of his second child. He was due to return as an opener in the second Test, but KL Rahul was instrumental in India's victory with a brilliant innings of 77 runs in Perth.

In such a situation, the captain had to change his batting order. However, he could score only 19 runs in three innings. On the other hand, Rahul strengthened his claim in the top order by scoring 84 runs in the first innings of the third Test match.

BGT draw 1-1, Gabba Test draw The Indian team is currently in Melbourne. Team India is scheduled to play the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia from December 26. The 5-match series is tied at 1-1. India drew the Gabba Test on 18 December. India won the first match in Perth by 295 runs, while the hosts won by 10 wickets in the pink ball Test played in Adelaide.
