President says- India wants to host Olympics: Kabaddi should also be included in Games; PM Modi has also expressed his desire to host

President Draupadi Murmu said that India is excited to host the 2036 Olympic Games. If the 2036 Games are held in India, the sports culture in the country will grow rapidly and new players will be inspired to enter the sport. Speaking to senior editors of PTI at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said that sports like Kabaddi should also be included in the Olympics. India won a total of 6 medals including 5 bronze and one silver in the Paris Olympics which ended in August. Loves watching Indian sports President Murmu said, “I like to watch sports, but I don't get many opportunities to watch it. Whenever I get a chance, I only like to watch Indian sports. India should hold Olympics. Its arrival will enable athletes will happen.” Hosting may be available until 2026 with the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in the US and 2032 in Australia. A decision on hosting the 2036 Games has not been made, with the International Olympic Committee likely to decide on hosting by 2026 or 2027. Apart from India, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Indonesia, Mexico and Qatar are also contenders for hosting. PM Modi also expressed his desire to host these games Before the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his desire to host the Olympic Games in his speech on August 15. He is confident that the country can host a show-piece event like the Olympics. Modi said, “It is India's dream to host the 2036 Olympic Games. We have also started preparations for it.” Murmu plays badminton with Nehwal Recently, the President played badminton with Olympic medal-winning shuttler Saina Nehwal for India. He also posted his photo with Nehwal on social media. Both used to play badminton in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Murmu posted a picture with Nehwal and wrote, Natural love for sports. The President also gave the go-ahead to the Durand Cup trophy tour, Asia's oldest football tournament. India finished 71st in Paris Olympics The Olympic Games in Paris ended on 11 August. India finished 71st with 5 bronze and one silver medal. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra bagged the only silver for the country. While 5 bronze medals came in shooting, wrestling and hockey. The country won 3 medals in shooting. The US topped the Olympic medal tally with China second. Both won 40-40 golds, with the US leading the way with a total of 125 medals while China won 91 medals. Japan was third, Australia fourth and hosts France fifth.
