Pakistan's ODI and T20 team coach Gary Kirsten has resigned. Kirsten, 56, was at loggerheads with the Pakistan Cricket Board. At the same time, PCB appointed Jason Gillespie as the coach of the team for the tour of Australia.
The PCB issued a statement on Monday saying – 'Gillespie will be the coach of the Pakistan men's cricket team on their limited-overs tour of Australia next month. Gary Kirsten has submitted his resignation, which has been accepted.
Kirsten was appointed as the coach of the Pakistan team 6 months ago in April-2024. Along with this, former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie was made the coach of the Pakistan Test team. Both signed a 2-year contract. Gary Kirsten won India the ODI World Cup in 2011 after a long wait of 28 years.
