NZ Vs ENG 3rd Test: Strong New Zealand batting on day 1: Latham-Sentner hits half-century, Potts-Atkinson take 3-3

New Zealand have made a strong start in the Hamilton Test against England. By the end of the first day's play on Saturday, the team had scored 315 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. Mitchell Santner returned unbeaten with 50 runs.

At Seddon Park in Hamilton, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Team captain Tom Latham scored 63, Will Young 42, Kane Williamson 44 and Tom Blundell scored 21 runs. Matthew Potts and Gus Atkinson took 3 wickets each for England. Braden Kars got 2 wickets and Ben Stokes got 1 wicket.

England team is leading 2-0 in the 3-match series. The team won the first test by 6 wickets and the second test by 323 runs. England last beat New Zealand 2-1 at home in 2008.

Tim Southee's last Test match This is the last Test match of New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee. He announced his retirement from Test cricket before the series started. Announcing his retirement, the 35-year-old Southee said – 'I will be available if our team qualifies for the WTC final.'
