Nitish's father falls at Gavaskar's feet with tears in his eyes and pride: Former cricketer weeps, says – India got a hero because of your sacrifice

Nitish's father Mutyala Reddy meets Sunil Gavaskar in the media box at Melbourne Stadium.

Mutyala Reddy, father of Nitish Reddy, who scored his maiden century in the Melbourne Test, met former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Meanwhile, Mutyala saluted Gavaskar on his feet.

Gavaskar made Mutyala stand up and then hugged him. Gavaskar also cried at this emotional moment. He said, “Because of your sacrifice, India got a hero named Nitish Reddy. We know how much you sacrificed. You struggled a lot. Because of you, I am crying. Because of you, India got a hero. Indian cricket A hero has been found.”

Mutyala Reddy folded hands after Nitish's century. He tearfully said that he would never forget this special moment.

Sunil Gavaskar gave a standing ovation Nitish Reddy made his Test debut in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). He scored his first career century on the third day of the fourth match in Melbourne on Saturday. After Nitish's century, Sunil Gavaskar gave him a standing ovation.

Nitish said, “To be honest, I was not very serious about cricket as a child. My father left his job for me. Behind my story there is a lot of sacrifice from my father and family. One day I saw him crying because of lack of money. Then I realized that cricket cannot be played like this for fun.”

“From here I became completely serious about cricket. I worked hard and got results. Now I am proud of myself that my father is happy now.”

Mutyala said – Where Gavaskar-Laxman played, the son's century

Nitish's father said, “I am really proud. He (Nitish) took my family to this position. He made our family very proud, I thank him for that. I know he is my son. But I Can't stop thanking him. As a father, my son scored his first century where legendary cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman and Ravi Shastri played. My eyes are filled with tears, I pray to God that he scores a similar century in the future.”

Nitish-Sundar avoided the follow-on Nitish came to bat after India lost 7 wickets in the first innings on the third day in Melbourne. India's score at that time was 191 runs. Team India was on the brink of follow-on. Nitish not only scored a century but also reduced Australia's lead. He shared a 127-run partnership with Washington Sundar.
